- Conduct and support both in-house Performance & Emissions (P&E) testing activities of outboard marine Internal Combustion Engines (ICEs) for purposes of product development, product verification, platform certification, and continuous improvement.
- Manage and direct daily activities of internal technical staff.
- Lead technical staff to maintain test system equipment including dynamometers, cooling tower(s), process water system, cooling systems, ventilation systems, fuel delivery systems, automation & data acquisition, and instrumentation.
- Develop offline post-processing tools for computation, analysis, reporting, and presentation of test results. Standardize reporting and presentation of standardized tests (emissions test reports, torque/power curves, fuel consumption mapping, heat rejection curves, etc.).
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for standardization of testing, data collection, and reporting. Harmonize SOPs, test procedures, and workflow with Suzuki product development headquarters in Japan.
- Work with Department Manager to specify and procure test equipment to increase engine calibration and emission testing capabilities as necessary.
- Assist technical staff with troubleshooting and resolving issues associated with engine test equipment, emissions analysis equipment, and instrumentation used in the engine testing laboratory.
- Draft test orders for test execution and report test data results.
- Support technical staff with instrumenting outboard marine engine test articles in preparation for testing.
- Support technical staff with installation of outboard marine engine test articles into the engine test cell.
- Interface with PCs and automation system as necessary to tailor automation and data acquisition system for specific tests.
- Support product development engineers with product modifications for the domestic outboard marine market.
- Develop or make recommendations on test procedures, test specifications, and testing equipment.
- Oversee and support laboratory equipment record documentation and maintaining laboratory equipment against compliance standards. Maintain a calibration schedule for laboratory measurement equipment and keep detailed calibration records that meet EPA 40CFR1065 criteria.
