As part of the Surgery & Robot Hardware, the Robot Manufacturing Team is responsible for producing and scaling the precisely engineered robotic systems and custom hardware that enable our life-changing surgical procedures. Balancing immediate production needs with long-term scalability, we drive manufacturing innovation to ensure the safety, reliability, and high-quality execution of every surgical implant.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
The Robot Manufacturing Intern will contribute directly to the production and scaling of Neuralink's advanced surgical robotic systems. This role provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced, high-precision manufacturing environment, focusing on developing processes, improving efficiency, and ensuring the quality and reliability of critical hardware used in our surgical procedures
- Manufacturing Process Support: Assist the team in the assembly, testing, and documentation of robotic components and systems.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to existing manufacturing workflows to increase throughput, reduce errors, and enhance product quality.
- Documentation and Control: Help create and maintain detailed manufacturing work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with quality systems.
- Tooling and Fixture Design: Work on the design and fabrication of jigs, fixtures, and production aids to streamline assembly and inspection tasks.
- Quality Assurance: Perform in-process quality checks and contribute to failure analysis and root cause investigations for non-conforming materials or devices.
- Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and report on manufacturing data to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and support data-driven decisions.
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely-related engineering field.
- Demonstrated passion and aptitude for hands-on technical work, manufacturing, or robotics, evidenced by relevant coursework, technical clubs, or personal projects.
- Strong foundational understanding of physics and mathematics relevant to engineering principles.
- Proven ability to be highly detail-oriented and organized in a high-precision environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for creating clear documentation and collaborating with a technical team.
- Must be able to commit to a full-time intern schedule.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior hands-on experience in a manufacturing or lab environment related to robotics or high-precision assembly
- Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software for designing production aids and tooling
- Familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., medical device, ISO 13485) and Quality Management Systems (QMS) documentation
