Mechanical Design Engineer

For a leading Belgian manufacturer of architectural lighting solutions, we are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support a team handling custom and special product requests. In this role, you will transform aesthetic lighting concepts into functional, manufacturable products while managing your own projects from design to implementation.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design and develop custom lighting fixtures based on specific customer requirements.
  • Transform aesthetic concepts into functional products, integrating mechanical, electronic and thermal considerations.
  • Create and maintain 3D designs and technical documentation using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Follow projects throughout the development cycle, including supplier coordination and BOM management.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production and procurement teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Optimize designs for manufacturability, quality and cost efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Development or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 3 to 4 years of experience in mechanical design or product development.
  • Strong experience with Autodesk Inventor.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes such as:
  • Injection moulding
  • Machining
  • Turning
  • Milling
  • Experience managing technical projects independently.
  • Strong understanding of materials, production methods and industrial product development.
  • Fluent in Dutch.
  • Able to work onsite in Wevelgem.
