Microsoft Hyper-V Infrastructure Engineer (L2/L3) – Banking
About the Role
NTT DATA Singapore is looking for experienced Microsoft Hyper-V Infrastructure Engineers (L2/L3) to join a long-term infrastructure managed services engagement supporting a leading bank in Singapore.
You will be responsible for the operation, administration and support of a large-scale Microsoft Hyper-V Private Cloud Platform, supporting business-critical environments across Production (PRD), Disaster Recovery (DR), UAT, SIT and Development.
This is an opportunity to work on a large enterprise virtualization environment comprising more than 300 Hyper-V infrastructure nodes.
The environment operates 24x7x365, and successful candidates must be comfortable working fully onsite in Singapore on a rotating shift roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, administer, monitor and maintain enterprise Microsoft Hyper-V private cloud infrastructure.
- Provide L2/L3 operational support across Production, DR, UAT, SIT and Development environments.
- Monitor infrastructure availability, performance, capacity, security and compliance and respond to platform alerts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents involving Hyper-V hosts, Windows Servers, virtual machines, Failover Clusters, storage and network connectivity.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and recovery of Hyper-V and Windows Server infrastructure.
- Provision and configure virtual machines, including CPU, memory, storage, networking and operating systems.
- Perform VM capacity upgrades and infrastructure configuration changes based on approved requests.
- Administer and support Windows Server and Windows Server Failover Clustering environments.
- Perform security and functional patching across the infrastructure.
- Remediate security vulnerabilities, system-hardening findings and configuration deviations.
- Plan and execute approved infrastructure changes in accordance with established change management processes.
- Perform regular platform health checks, housekeeping and preventive maintenance.
- Monitor infrastructure capacity across compute, memory, storage and network resources and proactively address capacity risks.
- Participate in critical and major incident calls and provide timely technical resolution.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major and recurring incidents and implement permanent remediation.
- Support Disaster Recovery exercises, infrastructure recovery and DR testing activities.
- Maintain accurate infrastructure inventory, configuration and CMDB records.
- Monitor hardware and software End-of-Life (EOL) and End-of-Support (EOS) and support infrastructure upgrade planning.
- Monitor infrastructure certificates and coordinate renewals before expiry.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, SOPs and recovery runbooks.
- Support infrastructure audits, security reviews, compliance activities and reporting requirements.
- Work closely with application, database, network, storage, security and other technology teams to troubleshoot cross-platform issues.
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to support teams where required.
- Meet agreed incident response, resolution and infrastructure availability SLAs.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Relevant hands-on experience in Microsoft Hyper-V and Windows Server infrastructure support.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V administration and troubleshooting.
- Good experience administering Windows Server environments.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server Failover Clustering / Hyper-V Clustering.
- Experience with virtual machine provisioning, administration, troubleshooting and capacity management.
- Knowledge of Microsoft System Center / System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) is highly advantageous.
- Experience using PowerShell for administration, troubleshooting or automation is preferred.
- Good understanding of enterprise storage/SAN, networking, DNS and Active Directory concepts.
- Experience with server patching, vulnerability remediation and security hardening.
- Experience supporting highly available Production infrastructure in a large enterprise environment.
- Good knowledge of Incident, Problem, Change and Service Request Management.
- Experience in major incident troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis.
- Knowledge of Disaster Recovery and infrastructure recovery procedures.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and CMDB/infrastructure inventory management.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with multiple infrastructure and application teams.
- Candidates considered for L3 positions should have deeper expertise in Hyper-V/Windows infrastructure, complex incident resolution, technical escalation, RCA and mentoring of L2 engineers.
- Experience supporting infrastructure within banking, financial services or other large mission-critical enterprise environments will be advantageous.
- Must be willing to work 24x7 rotating shifts, fully onsite in Singapore, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
