Middle Back-end Engineer (NestJS / Node.js, AI-assisted)

About the role:
We’re looking for a Middle Back-end Engineer to join our product teams and build reliable, scalable backend services using Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript.
You’ll work in a small cross-functional squad and take ownership of backend features end to end — from database design and business logic to API contracts, background processing, integrations, and production support.
We’re an AI-forward engineering team, so AI coding tools are part of the everyday workflow. You’ll use tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and MCP to accelerate development, explore solutions, generate and review code, and automate repetitive engineering work.
The important part is ownership: AI helps you move faster, but you remain responsible for the architecture, code quality, security, tests, and everything that reaches production.

Your future responsibilities:

• Build and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript
• Design database schemas and implement business logic using PostgreSQL, Redis, and MongoDB where appropriate
• Design and maintain clean REST APIs and clear contracts with Front-end engineers
• Implement authentication and authorization using JWT, OAuth 2.0, Passport.js, and related approaches
• Build asynchronous processes and background jobs using BullMQ or similar queue systems
• Work with event-driven communication and message brokers such as RabbitMQ
• Optimize backend performance, including database queries, indexing, caching, pagination, and API response times
• Write unit, integration, and API tests and take responsibility for their quality and coverage
• Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and MCP as part of your daily development workflow
• Use AI for tasks such as code generation, refactoring, API scaffolding, database migrations, test generation, and self-review
• Review and validate AI-generated code before it reaches production
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture decisions
• Collaborate with Front-end engineers, PMs, designers, and DevOps
• Contribute to CI/CD processes, Docker-based environments, and production reliability

Your professional qualities:

• 2–4 years of commercial back-end development experience
• Strong practical experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS
• Confident understanding of NestJS fundamentals: Modules, Providers, Middleware, Guards, Interceptors, and Pipes
• Experience building and maintaining REST APIs in production
• Good understanding of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL
• Experience with database schema design, indexing, SQL queries, and Prisma or Drizzle ORM
• Practical experience with Redis, including caching or session management
• Experience with background jobs and asynchronous processing using BullMQ or a similar solution
• Understanding of authentication, authorization, API security, and OWASP principles
• Solid understanding of software architecture principles, SOLID, and pragmatic design patterns
• Experience with Docker, Git, and basic CI/CD workflows
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of backend features
• Strong understanding that AI-generated code requires the same level of review, testing, and responsibility as manually written code
• Demonstrable experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar solutions as part of your daily workflow
• Ability to clearly explain what you delegate to AI, what you keep under manual control, and how you validate AI-generated solutions
• B2+ English, comfortable with written and spoken communication in a technical environment

Nice to have:

• Experience with microservices architecture and service decomposition
• Experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, or other event-driven systems
• Experience with GraphQL or gRPC
• Experience with CQRS or Event Sourcing
• Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
• Experience with vector databases or AI/LLM-related backend features
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Experience building custom MCP servers or internal developer tools
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and API gateways such as Kong or NGINX
