Mobile Service Technician - OTR

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a company service truck to provide mobile OTR tire service at customer and job-site locations.
  • Mount, dismount, repair, replace, and service OTR tires on construction, mining, quarry, industrial, and other heavy equipment.
  • Perform tire service on loaders, graders, scrapers, haul trucks, forklifts, and other applicable heavy equipment.
  • Inspect OTR tires, wheels, rims, and related components for wear, damage, and serviceability.
  • Diagnose tire-related issues and determine appropriate repair or replacement needs.
  • Safely remove, install, and position large OTR tires using hydraulic equipment, tire handlers, jacks, cribbing, and approved service tools.
  • Perform approved OTR tire repairs and inflation services.
  • Operate impact tools, compressors, hydraulic equipment, and specialized OTR tire service equipment.
  • Respond to scheduled and emergency field service calls.
  • Establish and maintain a safe work area around heavy equipment and active job sites.
  • Coordinate with equipment operators, customers, and site personnel before beginning service work.
  • Maintain assigned service truck, tools, equipment, and tire inventory.
  • Complete required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned service vehicles.
  • Accurately complete service tickets, work orders, inspections, and required documentation.
  • Communicate service recommendations and equipment concerns to customers and management.
  • Participate in after-hours, weekend, and on-call rotations as required.
  • Follow all company safety policies, site-specific safety requirements, DOT regulations, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Education & Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age to operate a company vehicle.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Must meet company requirements for operating a company service vehicle.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • OTR tire, heavy equipment, industrial tire, commercial tire, or field service experience preferred.
  • Experience working around heavy equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate specialized tire service equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in field environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations as required.
  • CDL and/or DOT medical certification may be required depending on assigned service vehicle and applicable regulations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, move, roll, and handle heavy tires and tire components, with or without mechanical assistance.
  • Ability to frequently bend, kneel, squat, climb, reach, push, and pull.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, and other field conditions.
  • Ability to work safely around large mobile equipment, construction operations, mines, quarries, industrial sites, and active job sites.
  • Ability to repeatedly enter and exit a service truck and operate field service equipment throughout the workday.

Skills / Education / Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

  • Mini boom truck experience - farm tires and small OTR tires.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (CDL preferred but not required).

  • Experience with heavy-duty/commercial tires preferred, but not required.

  • Ability to lift and move tires weighing 30–250 lbs., with or without mechanical assistance.

  • Capable of working independently in various weather and road conditions.

  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.
