Mobile Therapist

Job Description Summary:

The Mobile Mental Health Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive therapeutic services in a mobile clinic setting. This role is part of a multidisciplinary team providing care to individuals and families in underserved and rural areas, with a focus on early intervention and evidence-based practices. The therapist will provide services in a mobile unit equipped for individual, group, and family therapy, including Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and will utilize telehealth and mobile documentation tools. This position will provide services to both children and adults.
The therapist must demonstrate a welcoming, empathic, and hopeful attitude, and convey a philosophy of dual recovery. They must be trained and/or experienced in working with mental illness and/or substance use disorders and understand the impact of trauma on development and functioning. This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to meeting individuals where they are—both physically and emotionally. The therapist reports to the Clinical Director and collaborates closely with psychiatrists, peers, nurses, and other mobile unit staff.

Education:

  • Master’s degree required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate preferred but not required.

  • Full licensure preferred; provisional licensure accepted.

  • Experience in mobile or community-based behavioral health settings is desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, group, marital, and family counseling in a mobile setting.

  • Deliver PCIT and other evidence-based interventions in a mobile clinic environment.

  • Conduct intake interviews, identify presenting problems, and develop preliminary treatment plans.

  • Provide crisis intervention services during regular mobile clinic operations.

  • Utilize telehealth platforms and mobile documentation systems.

  • Collaborate with community partners, schools, and healthcare coalitions to identify service locations and client needs.

  • Participate in outreach and engagement efforts to increase access to care.

  • Support care coordination and referrals to internal and external services.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and case reviews.

  • Maintain compliance with documentation, ethical standards, and trauma-informed care principles.

  • May supervise unlicensed therapists or interns if licensed.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a mobile clinic environment, including travel to rural and underserved areas.

  • Prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting.

  • Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity to operate mobile clinic equipment and technology.

  • Must be able to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
