Network Administrator
Summary
Administers and secures an enterprise network spanning Cisco Meraki, Catalyst, and Firepower, plus routers, switches, wireless, SD-WAN, VPNs, and firewalls. The role monitors performance, troubleshoots connectivity, supports Webex Calling and Avaya voice systems, and coordinates infrastructure, security, documentation, and Level 3 support.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring, security, and optimization of enterprise network infrastructure, wireless systems, firewalls, and voice communications systems. Serves as the primary technical resource for network operations and troubleshooting, working closely with the Systems Administrator and Cybersecurity Administrator to maintain a secure, reliable, and highly available infrastructure and providing advanced technical support, infrastructure planning, and project coordination under the direction of the Director of IT.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Designs, implements, and maintains enterprise network infrastructure including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, VPNs, and related systems;
- Administers and maintains Cisco Meraki, Catalyst, and Secure Firewall (Firepower) networking infrastructure, including security appliances, firewalls, switching, wireless systems, SD-WAN, and network monitoring tools;
- Designs, implements, and maintains network segmentation, VLANs, routing, wireless security, and access control configurations;
- Administers and supports Cisco Webex Calling phone systems, voice infrastructure, call routing, user provisioning, and related telecommunications services;
- Assists with maintenance and support of Avaya phone systems as required;
- Monitors network performance, availability, capacity, and security to ensure optimal operation of enterprise systems and services;
- Independently troubleshoots and resolves complex network connectivity, routing, switching, wireless, VPN, VoIP, and infrastructure issues with minimal supervision;
- Works closely with the Cybersecurity Administrator to implement network security controls, vulnerability remediation, monitoring, and cybersecurity best practices;
- Assists the Systems Administrator with server infrastructure, virtualization platforms, enterprise applications, and related systems as required to support overall infrastructure operations;
- Maintains network and infrastructure firmware, operating systems, and security updates to reduce operational and cybersecurity risk;
- Configures and manages network monitoring systems;
- Evaluates infrastructure needs and recommends hardware, software, licensing, security improvements, and lifecycle replacement planning;
- Prepares and maintains accurate and up-to-date network diagrams, infrastructure documentation, configurations, asset inventories, and operational procedures;
- Documents issues, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and project activities utilizing the help desk and documentation systems;
- Provides Level 3 technical assistance and technical guidance to IT staff and other departments;
- Coordinates with vendors, contractors, carriers, and service providers to ensure timely resolution of issues requiring external support;
- Participates in infrastructure projects, maintenance windows, emergency response, and on-call support as required;
- Enforces IT policies, procedures, cybersecurity standards, and acceptable use requirements;
- Assists with disaster recovery planning, business continuity initiatives, and backup validation processes;
- Trains and mentors IT staff on network technologies, operational procedures, and best practices;
- Performs other position-related duties as assigned and required.
