Operations Manager (Tankers)
Salling Search is currently recruiting for an Operations Manager (Tankers) for a commodities trading group with its own maritime desk in Singapore. The desk is looking for someone who can take the reins and own the operation from day one, stepping into a team that has recently strengthened its senior leadership.
Responsibilities
- Own the operational execution of a live tanker programme, including voyage orders, laytime and demurrage, and port and agency coordination
- Keep cargo moving on time and on spec across the programme
- Lead a team of three commercial operations executives based in Singapore
- Report to a newly appointed Senior Operations Manager
- Stay close to the detail on voyage execution and claims, given the direct commercial impact of these decisions
- Act as the key point of reference for the desk when operational pressure builds
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years in senior tanker operations; experience with a palm oil trading house is preferred, but candidates from tanker owner companies are also welcome
- Demonstrated strong end-to-end knowledge of voyage operations, including laytime and demurrage management
- Strong written and spoken English is required, as this is the working language across the team and its daily operations. Proficiency in Mandarin or Bahasa Indonesia is an advantage to support regional communication needs, but not a must
- Proven experience managing or leading a small team of commercial operations staff
- Ability to maintain composure and accuracy under pressure while managing multiple competing priorities
