Oracle Database Administrator

Responsibilities

Manage, administer, and optimise Oracle database environments to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
Implement, configure, and support Oracle RAC environments.
Perform database installations, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle maintenance.
Develop and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and perform performance tuning.
Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting and automation tools.
Collaborate with application and development teams to support efficient database design and deployment.
Implement database security controls, conduct security audits, and ensure compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements.
Maintain database documentation, operational procedures, and best practices.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
5 or more years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.
Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
Hands-on experience implementing and managing Oracle RAC environments.
Strong knowledge of Oracle backup, recovery, performance tuning, and high availability solutions.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell, Python, or Perl for automation.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
Knowledge of database security and compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS or HIPAA.
Experience supporting additional database platforms such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
