Peer Support Worker

About us
Comcare is an established Mental Health/AOD and Housing provider assisting people with mental health or addiction issues to live well in the community. We provide a rich and diverse range of Mental Health Support Services, Housing and Housing Support Services.
We are seeking a peer supporter with their own lived experience of mental illness and/or addictions to work in our Christchurch Peer Support team.

What you’ll be doing
- Meeting individually in the community to provide Intentional Peer Support to clients
- Maintaining relevant electronic records
- Reflecting on your own work practice through supervision
- Contribution to the Peer Support team.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Must have lived experience in either Mental Health and or AOD
- Training and experience in Intentional Peer Support or similar
- Experience in Tikanga Māori and culturally appropriate service delivery to Māori would be an advantage, as would experience in the mental health and/ or addictions sector
- Experience in the mental health and disability sector would be an advantage.
It is desirable that you have a New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 – Peer Support Qualification (or similar) or are committed to studying towards one.
Applicants must hold a current full, clean driver’s license.
You will have a cultural awareness, knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Eligibility
