Platform Engineer

Introduction & Summary

We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to enhance our internal developer platforms to improve developer experience and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess at least 8 years of engineering experience, including 4 years specifically in building scalable internal developer platforms or tooling, and is adept in cloud-native architecture.

Main Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve platform capabilities utilized by engineering teams in production.
• Implement a strong platform-as-product mindset focused on developer feedback and service delivery.
• Define and document platform operating models including ownership boundaries and support mechanisms.
• Develop reusable service templates and standardized workflows.
• Integrate security, reliability, and scalability into platform designs.
• Drive adoption of platform capabilities among engineering teams through effective communication.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
• At least 8 years of engineering experience, including 4 years in platform engineering.
• Proven experience with internal developer platforms and tools like Backstage or similar.
• Strong expertise in Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure.
• In-depth knowledge of monitoring and observability tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
• Experience influencing teams through effective communication and documentation.
• In-depth understanding of DevOps practices and automation tools.

Nice to Have

• Experience in sunsetting or significantly changing internal platforms.
• Background in a developer-tools or cloud-native product environment.
• Experience contributing to tools like Kubernetes operators or Terraform modules.
• Facilitating workshops to identify developer pain points and unmet needs.
• Implementing developer experience measurements and metrics.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Go.
• Project management experience overseeing platform initiatives.
