Platform Engineer
You will bring a pragmatic DevOps mindset to help improve the developer experience at Lightning Labs. You'll manage the underlying cloud and cluster technologies that power the internal platform, operate stateful backend services including databases and Bitcoin/Lightning Network nodes, and work with observability tooling to keep systems transparent and reliable. You'll also focus on hardening platform security and robustness through tools like operators and overlay networks, and you'll partner with development teams to help them integrate with Helm charts, cloud resources, and the Kubernetes lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Manage the underlying cloud and cluster technologies that compose the internal platform
- Manage stateful backend services such as databases and Bitcoin/LN nodes
- Utilize, operate, and extend observability tools (logging/monitoring/tracing)
- Improve robustness & security of the platform using enhancements like operators and overlay networks
- Advise and assist dev teams with integrations, such as Helm charts, cloud resources, and the k8s lifecycle
Requirements
- Strong foundations in Linux, networking, security, cloud, and IaC
- Managing and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters in production
- Operating and extending observability tools (logging/metrics/tracing)
- Experience in a systems programming language (Go, Python, Rust, etc)
- Advanced cloud technologies: GitOps, DevSecOps, service mesh (preferred)
- Database administration: postgresql, etcd (preferred)
- Knowledge of Bitcoin and Lightning Network (preferred)
- Familiarity contributing to open source projects (preferred)
