About the role
As our Platform Services Manager, you will lead the team responsible for developing, operating and continuously improving Comrad’s customer cloud hosting environment, while also driving the migration of Comrad’s internal infrastructure into the cloud.
Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, this is a hands-on leadership role that combines people management, cloud and infrastructure engineering, operational governance, project delivery and strategic execution.
You will work closely with key technical and business functions to ensure our cloud platforms are reliable, secure, scalable and aligned with Comrad’s long-term technology strategy.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Oversee the delivery of reliable cloud and IT services that support Comrad’s business needs and customer outcomes
Drive the migration of Comrad’s and customer infrastructure from on-premises environments into the AWS cloud
Accelerate the uptake of AI, infrastructure-as-code, automation and CI/CD practices across the business
Build cloud and AI capability within the team through targeted training, mentoring, and hands-on delivery experience
Manage small to medium-sized infrastructure, cloud and internal IT projects
Manage IT procurement, vendor relationships, licensing, budgeting and cost optimisation
Establish and report on operational metrics, platform performance, risks, capacity, service levels and improvement initiatives
Prepare clear reporting for senior leadership and board-level audiences.
Drive continuous improvement across resilience, scalability, security and operational efficiency
Maintain a strong focus on incident response, service availability and operational maturity
Remain hands-on when required across cloud engineering, infrastructure, automation, networking and security
About you
You are a practical technology leader who enjoys building strong teams, improving systems and staying close enough to the technology to make informed decisions. You are comfortable operating at both strategic and technical levels, and you can translate infrastructure complexity into clear plans, priorities and outcomes.
You will bring:
Proven experience leading infrastructure, cloud, platform, DevOps or systems teams
The ability to manage priorities across operational support, project delivery and strategic improvement
Experience delivering infrastructure modernisation projects from on-premises to the cloud
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
Hands-on experience with AWS or comparable cloud environments
Solid systems administration experience across Linux, Windows Server and Microsoft 365 environments
Experience with infrastructure automation and CI/CD tools such as Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions or similar
A strong security mindset with networking and security experience, including VPNs, firewalls, routing and hybrid connectivity.
Experience with PostgreSQL or AWS Aurora PostgreSQL would be advantageous.
Demonstrated experience with budgeting, procurement, vendor management and operational reporting.
Clear communication skills and the ability to produce concise reporting for executive and board-level audiences.
