The Role

The Procurement Manager, Subcontracts role is responsible for total accountability of strategy and execution for fulfillment of orders relating to Subcontract Supply Chain (externally manufactured). This role sits at the intersection of sourcing and requisition, contract management, and supplier performance: acting as the connective tissue between our customers, internal teams, and supply base. You will be accountable owner of full lifecycle from RFQ through PO delivery, ensuring we hit cost, quality, and schedule targets while building the supplier relationships that sustain long-term program success. This role is a critical function in developing a world class procurement service prioritizing quality, cost, and speed.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the supplier selection and sourcing strategy for demand relating to externally manufactured requirements from end-customers and internal factory ops needs

  • Operate as the primary point of direction to the supporting functions of the org across buyers, coordinators, supplier quality, and internal factory ops and customer facing groups.

  • Managing operational KPIs and taking proper action to improve performance as it relates to transactional SLAs, quality, delivery, and cost

  • Develop long term strategies that support various customer and organizational objective, such as: cost down initiatives, quality improvements, supply base growth and strategy, capacity analysis and rate ramp readiness

  • Operate as escalation path for negotiation, commercial resolution, and in-process order fulfillment

  • Ensure compliance with all company and customer policies, requirements, procedures and government regulations while acting with integrity and prioritizing the needs of company and programs

  • Present value propositions, open risks, and health of supply base and order book to leadership

  • Manage the creation and evolution of governing standard operating procedures and working closely with the internal product and software team on developing adequate tool set to consistently improve operations

  • Work with suppliers and relevant internal functions on technical review of specifications, providing design for manufacturability and supply chain feedback where and when applicable

  • Work with internal quoting teams on make versus buy analysis and decision making as it relates to manufacturing parts through internal core factory or externally through managed supply base

  • Work closely with open order management group to ensure blockers and risks are addressed with priority and proactively actioning to prevent future issues

  • Understand business needs at a high level to proactively take action and direct team to operate in a way that sets the company up for success at scale

  • Periodically visit suppliers on-site to ensure alignment on growth plans, strategy, performance feedback and guidance, and resolution of any blockers or points of friction

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree with 5+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:

    • Engineering (mechanical, aerospace, chemical, materials)

    • Purchasing/Procurement (CNC machining, forgings, metallic raw materials, sheet metal, production tooling)

    • Contract Negotiation

    • Supply Chain Management

    • Material / Demand Planning

  • Experience in identifying and executing an optimized machining supply chain, or other complex supply chain systems in advanced manufacturing sub-commodities

What Will Set You Apart

  • Demonstrated success in managing large value contracts and supply base while balancing high-frequency of change and effectively balancing trade-offs between quality, cost, and schedule

  • Ability to easily navigate technical engineering specifications (drawings, models, etc) with a fundamental understanding of how components should optimally be manufactured or built

  • Ability to learn program context quickly and prioritize items effectively so that goals are properly met

  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to successfully manage cross-functional teams across various factory operations functions

Compensation

For this role, the target salary range is $130,000 - $165,000 (actual range may vary based on experience).

This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
