Program Manager for WestCare's Youth Champions Program in Dayton, OH, mentoring 6th-12th grade students through individualized success plans, case management, and after-school programming while managing grant deliverables and partner agencies.

Position Description: The Youth Champions Program, focuses on building relationships with youth, 6th grade- 12th grade, and families in order to discover their interests and develop individualized success plans which can guide youth on their journey toward success. The purpose of the Program is to help students achieve academic success, graduate from high school on time, learn to make good decisions, explore opportunities for careers and post-secondary education and training, set goals for their future, build strong character, and engage in community service. The Youth Champions Program collaborates with several other non-profit organizations to provide social and emotional development opportunities and prevention education for students as they transition from middle to high school and high school to college, or vocational opportunities. The Youth Champions Program is part of a East End Community Services’ pipeline of afterschool services offered to students Kindergarten-12th grade.

The Youth Champions Program has two components: Remote Case Management and developmentally appropriate programming. Our remote case management programming is for middle and high school students who need critical social, emotional and academic support services. The Youth Manager maintains a caseload of 75 youth, and tracks each of their progress through their individualized success plans. Another component to the program is delivering developmentally appropriate programing. Throughout the school year and summer students will gather together and eat dinner and engage in conversations pertinent to their current lives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Mentor the youth enrolled in the Champions Program and monitor their academic and social/emotional development utilizing the individualized student success plan.
  • Provide/assure high quality programming and services that touch 75 youth, ages 12-19, each year.
  • Maintain daily Youth Center hours with good quality programming between 3 and 7 PM.
  • Manage/schedule/evaluate programming of partner agencies during out-of-school-time center-based periods.
  • Maintain regular, open communications with youth families.
  • Ensure grant deliverables are being met within the limits of the approved budget.
  • Prepare data and reports for funders (monthly and at six and 12 month intervals).
  • Help find community services, work, and job shadowing opportunities for the youth.
  • Work with nutritional aid to create healthy monthly menus according to the CACFP guidelines, and maintain attendance and meal count records.
  • Make referrals to partner agencies when applicable.
  • Create and maintain student files and student success plans.
  • Facilitate and/or conduct program activities and prevention education classes with youth
  • Provide supervision during program hours and field trips.
  • Assist in writing grant applications and completing reports as needed.
  • Maintain and foster relationships with schools in which our middle and high school students are enrolled.
  • Recruit and retain new students for remote case management or attendance in activities.
  • Create daily/monthly schedules for after school programming and summer programming.
