General Description
The Project Manager – Industrial Projects is responsible for the promotion, development, execution, and coordination of industrial project logistics activities, with a primary focus on project cargo, heavy lift, out-of-gauge (OOG), and containerised freight movements supporting data centre, infrastructure, energy, and industrial projects.
This role combines both commercial and operational responsibilities, including business development, client management, market intelligence, logistics planning, pricing, vendor management, and end-to-end project execution. The position works closely with clients, carriers, terminals, transport providers, vessel operators, and internal teams to ensure safe, compliant, timely, and cost-effective cargo delivery.
The Project Manager is also responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, maintaining strong relationships with specialised service providers, and gathering market intelligence on upcoming industrial and infrastructure projects.
Essential Job Functions
- Promote and sell the Company’s specialised maritime, project logistics, heavy lift, and industrial cargo services.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients through direct sales activities, networking, industry events, social media engagement, and client visits.
- Identify, research, and gather market intelligence on upcoming industrial, infrastructure, energy, and data centre projects.
- Develop logistics solutions and transportation plans for domestic and international project cargo movements across all transport modes.
- Manage day-to-day execution of project shipments, including containerised cargo, breakbulk, OOG, heavy lift, and specialised cargo movements.
- Coordinate multimodal transportation activities including ocean freight, trucking, barging, air freight, terminal handling, and specialised cargo operations.
- Prepare competitive RFQs, quotations, transport studies, and project proposals.
- Negotiate rates and service agreements with carriers, subcontractors, terminals, warehouses, and specialised vendors to maximise profitability and service performance.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with specialised service providers for heavy lift, oversize, and out-of-gauge cargo handling.
- Coordinate shipment planning, documentation, customs requirements, permits, cargo inspections, and operational execution.
- Monitor shipment schedules, identify operational risks, and proactively resolve issues to maintain project timelines.
- Act as the primary operational and commercial focal point for assigned projects and customers.
- Coordinate first-mile and last-mile logistics, including inland transportation, crane operations, rigging, and site delivery coordination.
- Support vessel husbandry activities nationwide, including coordination of port services, Proforma Disbursement Accounts (PDA), and Final Disbursement Accounts (FDA) where required.
- Maintain project documentation including SOPs, shipment trackers, execution plans, status reports, and cost tracking.
- Ensure compliance with local and international trade regulations, customs requirements, safety standards, and company procedures.
- Collaborate closely with internal departments including operations, chartering, engineering, procurement, finance, and commercial teams.
- Support development and upkeep of the Company’s industrial projects book of business, including target customers, cargo profiles, trade lanes, and business plans.
- Prepare periodic operational and commercial reports, forecasts, and budget updates.
- Travel as required to support client meetings, site surveys, cargo inspections, and project execution activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Skills/Abilities
- Strong operational knowledge of project logistics, freight forwarding, breakbulk, container shipping, and heavy lift transportation.
- Knowledge of out-of-gauge, oversize, and heavy cargo handling procedures.
- Familiarity with multimodal transport planning and industrial project execution.
- Proven ability to develop client relationships and generate new business opportunities.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Effective communication and coordination skills with clients, vendors, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and shipment schedules simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in fast-paced operational environments.

- Computer literate with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and shipment/project tracking systems.

- Japanese language proficiency at business level required.

Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Maritime Studies, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3–8 years of experience in freight forwarding, project logistics, industrial cargo operations, or related maritime transportation fields.
- Proven experience handling containerised cargo, breakbulk, OOG, heavy lift, or industrial project shipments.
- Experience supporting data centre, infrastructure, energy, or industrial projects is an advantage.
- General understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and shipping documentation.
Certifications And Licenses
- PMP or industry certifications preferred but not required.
