About Open Road Brands |
Open Road Brands is an Americana and nostalgia-driven home décor and lifestyle brand. We design, manufacture, and distribute product across mass retail, specialty, and e-commerce channels, including a significant and growing partnership with Walmart and Sam’s Club. We run on EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System), which means clear seats, clear numbers, and clear accountability. Our teams are small, the work is hands-on, and the people who do well here take real ownership of their outcomes.
|
Position Summary |
The Project Manager, Walmart Retail Operations owns the operational execution of Open Road Brands’ business inside the Walmart and Sam’s Club ecosystem. This seat is accountable for item accuracy, content health, replenishment and in-stock performance, service and scorecard results, and launch readiness across the account. The role owns the processes, trackers, dashboards, and standard operating procedures that keep the account clean, and works across sales, category management, supply chain, demand planning, finance, and e-commerce to catch and close execution gaps before they reach the retailer.
|
Key Responsibilities |
Item Setup & Data Integrity
- Own item setup, maintenance, and accuracy across Walmart systems, including Item360, QMS, NOVA, and Scintilla/Charter.
- Maintain accurate product data, attributes, and hierarchy in line with retailer system requirements and internal records.
- Audit item and catalog data on a set cadence and correct discrepancies before they affect orders or shipments.
Content & Catalog Health
- Monitor and maintain content health scores, imagery, copy, and attribute completeness across the assortment.
- Partner with creative, marketing, and e-commerce to source and load content that meets retailer standards.
Replenishment & In-Stock Performance
- Monitor replenishment signals, inventory positions, and store/club-level in-stock performance.
- Flag supply, forecast, and order-flow issues to demand planning and supply chain with enough lead time to act.
Service & Scorecard Performance
- Track OTIF, fill rate, and other retailer service metrics; identify root causes of misses and drive corrective action.
- Prepare and distribute recurring performance reporting for internal leadership and account reviews.
Launch & Program Readiness
- Build and manage operational timelines for new item launches, promotions, modular resets, and assortment changes.
- Confirm every readiness gate — item setup, content, packaging, inventory, logistics — is complete before launch dates.
Process Ownership & Documentation
- Own and maintain the operational trackers, dashboards, and standard operating procedures for the account.
- Document and improve recurring processes so execution does not depend on any single person’s memory.
Cross-Functional & Retailer Coordination
- Coordinate execution across sales, category management, supply chain, demand planning, finance, and e-commerce.
- Support communication with Walmart merchant and replenishment teams on operational matters.
- Identify execution risks and breakdowns, escalate early, and drive them to resolution.
|
Qualifications |
Required
- Three or more years of experience in retail operations, account operations, project coordination, or a closely related function.
- Demonstrated ownership of recurring operational processes, trackers, or reporting in a deadline-driven environment.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and comfort working in dashboards and operational reporting tools.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with visible attention to detail and follow-through.
- Clear written and verbal communication with internal teams and external partners.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and hold deadlines without daily direction.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Direct experience with Walmart or Sam’s Club supplier systems (Item360, QMS, NOVA, Scintilla/Charter, Retail Link).
- Experience supporting a mass-retail account in consumer products, home décor, or a comparable category.
- Working knowledge of ERP and item/data management systems.
|
Success Measures |
- Item and content accuracy maintained at or above retailer requirements, with audit exceptions closed inside the agreed window.
- OTIF and fill-rate performance meet or exceed the account target, with documented root cause on any miss.
- Launches, promotions, and resets go live on time with all readiness gates confirmed in advance.
- Operational trackers, dashboards, and SOPs are current, accurate, and usable by someone other than the owner.
- Execution risks are surfaced early enough for the business to act, not discovered by the retailer.
|
Physical Demands & Work Environment |
- Office-based, on-site role in Wichita, Kansas.
- Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting and movement of product samples and display materials, up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional exposure to warehouse and production areas.
