Quality, Risk and Clinical Governance Manager

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quality, Risk and Clinical Governance Manager to lead the hospital's clinical governance, quality improvement and risk management programs. This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday-Friday.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of patient safety, continuous improvement and regulatory compliance across the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior Registered Nurse with extensive leadership experience and a strong background in clinical risk, incident management and accreditation within the private healthcare sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the hospital's quality, risk and clinical governance framework.
  • Oversee the management of clinical incidents, investigations and serious adverse event reviews, ensuring timely completion and implementation of recommendations.
  • Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives across all clinical and non-clinical services.
  • Manage the Hospital complaints process
  • Lead organisational preparation for accreditation and ongoing compliance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.
  • Monitor, analyse and report quality and risk indicators, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide expert advice to executive leaders, managers and clinicians on patient safety, risk management and quality systems.
  • Develop, review and implement policies, procedures and clinical governance frameworks.
  • Facilitate education and coaching to build capability in quality improvement, incident management and patient safety.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, insurers and external stakeholders as required.
  • Promote a culture of transparency, learning and continuous improvement.
  • Manage a small team

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Minimum 24 months experience in a Senior Nursing leadership role within an Australian hospital.
  • Demonstrated experience in a Quality, Risk, Clinical Governance or Patient Safety leadership role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and accreditation processes.
  • Extensive experience managing clinical incidents, investigations, root cause analyses and implementation of system improvements.
  • Strong understanding of clinical governance, risk management principles and healthcare legislation.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including preparation of executive reports, policies and investigation findings.
  • Proven ability to influence, engage and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Highly developed analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Quality, Clinical Governance, Patient Safety, Health Management or a related discipline (desirable).
  • Experience with healthcare incident management systems (e.g. RiskMan) (desirable).
  • Experience leading accreditation surveys and quality improvement programs within the private hospital sector (desirable).

Remuneration

On offer is an annual salary ranging from $150,000 - $158,000 + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances.
