Role purpose

Coordinate and manage the day-to-day activities of the radio planning subgroup and ensure that targets are met within the defined time frame. Come up with initiatives to improve radio planning workflow processes with external entities and cost-saving initiatives as well. Ensure that all trials are done according to plan.

Key accountabilities & decision ownership

Technical management

Throughout the assigned geographical area, the senior supervisor shall have the following responsibilities for both 2G and 3G radio access networks:

  • Supervise the radio base station rollout activities for his area in a timely manner according to the agreed rollout plan.
  • Ensure regular survey schedules are conducted according to plan.
  • Ensure that different types of planning analysis methodologies are carried out by subordinates to identify problem areas and assess network planning new techniques.
  • Guide and supervise the BTS sites design in the area of responsibility to support the coverage, capacity, and quality targets (macro, micro, indoor cells).
  • Be fully aware of the impact and apply the requirements of Egyptian protocols on BTS design.
  • Supervise the dimensioning process to maintain radio network accessibility within the acceptable grade of service (2%) without overproviding the access layer capacity.
  • Be fully aware of and proactively manage the traffic trends in the areas of responsibility.
  • Support the sales and marketing teams with emergency events and sales coverage issues within specified timescales.

HR management

  • Supervise a group of radio planning engineers.
  • Build a solid proactive team with full cooperation and teamwork spirit.
  • Keep team members motivated supporting team ideas and activities while being transparent for management.
  • Organize activities and distribute tasks within the team.
  • Coach new team members and integrate them into the team.
  • Carry out required performance appraisals for team members.
  • Provide development plans for team members.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the team and provide on-target feedback.

Reporting

  • Provide visibility through regular reports and keep records of all activities in the areas of responsibility.
  • Review all subordinates’ reports before submission to management.

Customers’ satisfaction

Ensure a high standard of quality of service to our subscribers.

Global network coordination

  • Liaise with VF-Group to ensure the best target architecture is implemented in the network.
  • Manage the technical plans in coordination with the global competence centre.

Environmental / legal standards

Perform all previously mentioned duties and tasks in compliance with the environmental standards and legal requirements governing the area of responsibility. Be fully acquainted with the following:

  • Vodafone Environmental Management System (EMS) policy and related documentation.
  • Significant impacts related to the job and the role and responsibility to control them.
  • Potential consequences of not following related EMS documentation.

Communication / interfaces

  • Interface with different departments within the company.
  • Attend relevant meetings with senior management.

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience

  • Education: B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Communication section from a reputable university.
  • Work experience: A minimum of 7 years working experience, preferably in RAN planning.
  • PC knowledge: Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Familiarity with MS Access is preferred.
  • Technical skills: Good knowledge of radio propagation theories; fully aware of radio planning tools and techniques in addition to knowledge of radio network planning roadmap and capacity features used in network planning.
  • Personal skills: Managerial skills, good command of English language, ability to work independently and under pressure. A supervisor with a strong yet diplomatic personality, analytical and creative thinking. Well organized, cooperative, and able to meet changing work conditions and peak workloads.
