Job Description:

  • Conducts risk assessments and implements risk mitigation activities in assigned region.

  • Coordinates external audits in conjunction with the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Department, as necessary.

  • Facilitates monitoring and auditing activity for the various compliance topics in assigned region.

  • Answers questions from staff and leadership concerning compliance policies, privacy of patient information topics, physician arrangements, and other general regulatory compliance topics.

  • Responds to phone and email inquiries and research requests for information on a variety of compliance topics.

  • Coordinates compliance activities and investigations for the applicable facilities within assigned region.

  • Serves as chairperson for the Regional Compliance Steering Committees for assigned facilities.

  • Facilitates and delivers compliance and Code of Conduct education, including new employee orientation, general and targeted compliance training, and facility leadership training.

  • Coordinates the submission of monitoring and auditing documentation to the Corporate Compliance Department to confirm compliance with elements of the monitoring and auditing plan.

  • Communicates and provides training and education on policies regarding regulatory compliance to ensure consistency across the region.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to understand the healthcare regulatory environment, including Stark, Anti-Kickback, False Claims, and HIPAA. [Required]
  • Strong working knowledge of compliance and healthcare software/technologies including compliance and ethics reporting tools, privacy monitoring software, conflict of interest tools, and electronic medical records. [Required]
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with senior leadership and all other levels of personnel throughout the organization. [Required]
  • Knowledge of Medicare and third-party payer coding and billing regulations. [Required]
  • Working knowledge and experience using word and excel platforms. [Required]
  • Strong ability to assess, interpret, and report data. [Required]
  • Exhibit proven organizational skills in compliance, privacy-related activities, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. [Required]
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality. [Required]
  • Ability to operate successfully in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment. [Required]
  • Ability to travel within the region itself and occasionally to the Corporate Office. [Required]
  • Knowledge of the culture and working environment in the healthcare system is helpful. [Preferred]


Education:

  • Bachelor's [Required]
  • Master's [Preferred]


Field of Study:

  • in Business Administration, Nursing, Law or other healthcare related field


Work Experience:

  • 5+ healthcare regulatory or financial experience at a management level. [Required]
  • Specific experience in hospital compliance and/or physician practice/medical group compliance, coding and/or operations and/or post-acute compliance, depending on the designated entities. [Required]
