Regulatory Manager

You lead applications for municipal, provincial, and environmental approvals, engage regulatory authorities and utilities, manage pipeline and grid approval processes, oversee public and Indigenous consultation, and track regulatory risks and permitting milestones.

Responsibilities

  • Direct environmental, land-use, and zoning permit applications
  • Engage with Alberta Environment and Protected Areas, the Alberta Utilities Commission, Alberta Lands, and local municipalities
  • Review fire protection and code requirements
  • Coordinate grid interconnection applications with ATCO, Altalink, and power partners
  • Obtain regulatory approvals for natural gas pipeline construction
  • Engage with gas suppliers and the Alberta Energy Regulator
  • Manage public notifications and community consultation sessions
  • Manage Indigenous relations under provincial duty-to-consult frameworks
  • Track regulatory changes
  • Assess risks for new site selection
  • Align permitting milestones with construction schedules

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, public policy, urban planning, engineering, or law
  • 5–8+ years of experience in regulatory affairs, environmental permitting, or land development in Alberta
  • Experience in data centers, energy, oil and gas, telecommunications, or major industrial infrastructure
  • Knowledge of the Alberta Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act
  • Knowledge of the Water Act
  • Knowledge of AUC Rule 007 and AUC Rule 012
  • Knowledge of Municipal Development Plans and Land Use Bylaws
  • Professional Planner or Professional Engineer designation is an asset
