Robotics Engineer (Control & Embedded Systems)
About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Robotics Engineer specializing in control systems and embedded firmware to develop our core AGV control stack. This role is central to bridging the gap between high-level autonomous navigation and low-level hardware execution for our fleet of autonomous forklifts. You will be responsible for the end-to-end implementation of vehicle control logic and the embedded systems that interface with industrial vehicle hardware. Beyond technical execution, the successful candidate will demonstrate a high degree of professional engineering discipline and cross-functional collaboration to help move our engineering culture toward standardized, scalable product delivery.
Key responsibilities
Manage and program the interface between high-level Fleet Management software and truck hardware, handling control signals across analog voltage, relay signals, and digital CAN bus.
Design, implement, and maintain real-time vehicle control frameworks using ROS 2 for diverse AGV models.
Develop and optimize trajectory control algorithms and local planners to ensure precise and reliable vehicle movement in complex warehouse environments.
Develop tooling and diagnostic subsystems to monitor vehicle health and troubleshoot system-level issues.
Participate in on-site deployments to calibrate, test, and resolve architectural or performance bottlenecks in real-world industrial facilities.
Act as the primary owner for MCU boards (such as STM32-based), ensuring robust firmware performance and communication between the Industrial PC (IPC) and the base machine.
About you
Professional-level proficiency in C++, embedded C for multi-threaded, real-time applications and Python programming.
Experience working with CAN bus and other industrial communication protocols.
Proven track record of significant technical contributions to autonomous vehicle or mobile robotics projects, with a focus on vehicle control and system integration.
Confident knowledge of ROS 2 (and ROS 1) architecture, particularly in controls, motion planning, and navigation stacks.
Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Product, or Management) and provide clear, concise status updates in daily stand-ups.
Proactive approach to identifying and resolving blockers for peers and navigating dependencies between different engineering squads.
Hands-on experience in MCU firmware programming at the PCB board level.
Knowledge of international interoperability standards such as VDA 5050 for multi-vendor fleet orchestration.
Familiarity with electronic system architecture, schematic design, and PCB-level troubleshooting.
