SAP MDG Functional Architect

We're looking for an SAP MDG Functional Architect to join our team in Portugal in a remote working mode. In this role, you will act as an in-house SAP MDG Solution Architect on behalf of our client, designing and governing future-state master data governance processes to support enterprise transformation. You will define governance workflows, ensure alignment with SAP principles, and drive process reengineering initiatives across multiple domains (Customer, Vendor, Intercompany). This position provides the opportunity to lead functional design for large-scale SAP MDG implementations in a multi-country, multi-vendor environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and validate future-state MDG processes aligned with enterprise governance principles
• Define governance workflows and data quality standards supporting master data strategy
• Serve as the primary architect for SAP MDG solution design and functional governance
• Validate and approve proposed solutions to ensure compliance with business requirements
• Oversee MDG functional configurations across Customer, Vendor, and Intercompany domains
• Collaborate with technical teams to integrate MDG with SAP and non-SAP systems
• Lead process reengineering efforts and drive standardization across multiple countries
• Participate in client-facing workshops, design sessions, and stakeholder alignment forums
• Monitor data governance adoption and ensure auditability, compliance, and security standards
• Provide guidance on best practices for MDG deployment in an enterprise transformation context

Requirements

• 10+ years of SAP MDG functional experience, with focus on Customer, Vendor, and Intercompany domains
• Expertise in SAP master data governance frameworks and process standardization
• Strong understanding of SAP integration scenarios for MDG and related ERP components
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into functional MDG solutions
• Knowledge of data quality management, governance principles, and workflow design
• Strong experience working in multi-vendor, multi-country transformation programs
• Familiarity with SAP Activate methodology and agile project delivery frameworks
• Excellent communication skills for leading client-facing discussions and design workshops

Nice to have

• Exposure to SAP MDG Technical Architecture and BTP-based extensions
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA functional modules (Finance, Logistics)
• Understanding of LeanIX, Signavio, and data process modeling tools
• Background in large-scale enterprise data migration and harmonization projects
