Security Engineer (Contract)
Our client is seeking an experienced Security Engineer to join a growing cybersecurity team responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise security technologies that protect critical infrastructure and business applications. This role is ideal for a hands-on security professional with strong technical expertise across endpoint, network, identity, and cloud security technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support enterprise security solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Administer and optimize security technologies, including SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, Anti-Virus, Vulnerability Management, DLP, PAM, IAM, WAF, and IDS/IPS.
- Plan, deploy, and transition security solutions into production while ensuring minimal operational risk and service disruption.
- Monitor, investigate, and troubleshoot security incidents, system alerts, and complex technical issues across enterprise environments.
- Perform security assessments, recommend remediation measures, and drive continuous improvements to strengthen the organization's security posture.
- Develop and maintain security automation, scripts, and operational procedures to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, application, and operations teams to implement security best practices throughout the technology lifecycle.
- Support security governance, compliance, and audit requirements while ensuring security controls remain effective and up to date.
- Participate in security projects, technology evaluations, and operational initiatives to enhance enterprise cybersecurity capabilities.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Security Engineering or a related cybersecurity role.
- Proven experience implementing and managing enterprise security technologies, including:
- SIEM
- SOAR
- EDR/XDR
- Anti-Virus
- Vulnerability Management
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
- Privileged Access Management (PAM)
- Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Web Application Firewall (WAF)
- Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS)
- Strong understanding of information security principles, cybersecurity best practices, and networking concepts.
- Hands-on experience administering Unix/Linux environments with scripting skills (e.g., Shell/Bash scripting) for automation and troubleshooting.
- Experience planning, implementing, and deploying enterprise security solutions into production environments.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, demonstrate ownership, and deliver results with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Certifications
- AWS Certified Security – Specialty (or equivalent cloud security certification)
- Other relevant cybersecurity vendor certifications are highly regarded.
