Security Engineer (Contract)
The role:
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Security Engineer to join a growing cybersecurity team. You will help protect both customer and internal environments by monitoring threats, investigating security incidents, and delivering effective security solutions.
This is a hands-on role with a mix of security operations, incident response, engineering, customer engagement and technical leadership.

Key responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts and events across customer and internal environments
- Investigate security incidents and identify containment and remediation actions
- Act as an escalation point for complex security alerts and incidents
- Lead cybersecurity incident response activities
- Deploy, configure and manage security tools
- Onboard new customers to security services
- Provide technical advice and guidance to customers and internal teams
- Take part in customer meetings and provide updates on incidents and services
- Mentor junior engineers and support the wider development of the team
- Contribute to security audits, reviews, standards and controls
- Provide technical support for proposals, RFPs and customer presentations
- Participate in the on-call support roster
You will bring strong hands-on cybersecurity experience, along with the ability to investigate complex incidents and explain technical issues clearly to different audiences.
Ideally, you will have:
- Five or more years of experience in cybersecurity or a related field
- Strong experience with the Microsoft Security Stack, particularly Sentinel and Defender
- Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms and log analysis
- A solid understanding of cyber threats, vulnerabilities, attack methods and security frameworks
- Good knowledge of networking, operating systems, systems administration and security technologies
- Strong incident investigation, problem-solving and prioritisation skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Experience supporting customers and working with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Microsoft Security certifications such as SC-100, SC-300 or SC-400
- Basic scripting skills using KQL, Python or PowerShell
- Experience with Netskope, Mimecast, Qualys or Tenable would be an advantage.
