Senior AFC Compliance Officer
You will build and manage a scalable AML/CFT and sanctions compliance framework for activities in Germany. You will own second-level controls, oversee high-risk customer reviews and enhanced due diligence, lead audits and regulatory inspections, manage reporting, and collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data, and Legal teams on automated compliance workflows.
Responsibilities
- Serve as AMLO or Deputy AMLO and senior AML control owner in Germany
- Establish and manage the AML/CFT and sanctions framework
- Ensure alignment with German and regional regulatory standards
- Own the second-level AML control framework
- Design and test controls
- Manage remediation
- Supervise high-risk customer reviews and enhanced due diligence assessments
- Handle sanctions escalations
- Drive automated improvements across compliance workflows
- Lead internal and external audits
- Manage regulatory inspections and reporting
- Interact with BaFin, the FIU, senior management, and Group AFC functions
Requirements
- Experience as a Geldwäschebeauftragter, MLRO, or Deputy MLRO
- Experience in fintech, crypto, payments, or financial services
- Deep knowledge of the German Money Laundering Act
- Knowledge of BaFin expectations and FIU reporting
- Knowledge of MiCAR
- Knowledge of sanctions compliance
- Knowledge of the Travel Rule for crypto assets
- Experience with blockchain analytics
- Fluency in German and English
