POSITION TITLE: Senior Analyst, Office of Technology Development Revenue
POSITION SUMMARY:
The OTD Revenue Sr. Analyst will serve as a core member of OTD’s Operations team responsible for effective implementation and maintenance of OTD’s information management systems, including Inteum, and successful integrations with other information management systems within Scripps Research including Workday and Appcoll, to ensure operational excellence and overall accuracy and integrity of all OTD data. They will collect, organize, and analyze data within each system and will work to migrate existing data into a clean and up-to date format. A core function of this position is to create and maintain dashboards and reporting to support strategic operational priorities for the OTD team.
Additionally, this position supports OTD’s financial operations and will be responsible for all aspects of the execution of the revenue collection and distribution process for OTD. They will partner with Scripps Research Finance and Accounting department to align processes and systems to ensure revenue is accurately billed, reconciled, collected and distributed in accordance with contractual obligations. They will ensure entry of the analysis and interpretation of all financial aspects of Scripps Research licensing agreements in Inteum to support the consistent collection and tracking of revenue and reports from licensees in accordance with contractual obligations. This position requires advanced experience in data-driven analysis, ability to execute complex data audits, mining and reporting, and the ability to provide end-user training.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Serve as the database administrator for the Inteum database. Includes training others, managing user accounts, coding protocols, business rules, and overall data integrity.
- Manage all aspects of database processes to ensure accuracy and data integrity, routinely review and update user functions, create department policies and procedures, explore streamline opportunities and update as needed.
- Responsible for all aspects of the integration of Inteum with other Scripps Research systems
- Track, collect and distribute licensing revenue in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Partner with the AR, AP and GL teams to support invoicing, payment tracking, reconciliation and training new personnel on the revenue collection and distribution process for OTD.
- Create revenue distribution profiles for all new and active licenses.
- Create documentation such as memos, reports including regular OTD and financial reports and dashboards, perform the financial reconciliation and other reporting and analytical needs.
- Serve as the OTD financial subject matter expert to support overall ERP and other related system implementations.
- Partner effectively with internal stakeholders to facilitate audits to ensure licensee compliance with contractual agreements.
- Manage and integrate best practices for a data-driven approach to licensing and commercialization outcomes.
- Review and implement processes and guidelines for database access, user security, imports/exports, and reporting of revenue and financial data.
- Create query, export, and report templates for staff/end-users to run independently, based on user needs communicated and offer support as required.
- Support complex OTD operations projects. Create and execute project plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope, work cross-functionally and collaboratively.
- Submit recommendations for process improvement, digital transformation or other changes required to support OTD operational and strategic needs.
- Actively maintain knowledge of advancement services, research industry standards and best practices, stay current on data analytics and mining processes, and data management procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in data science, accounting or business, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- 5+ years’ experience in data wrangling and management.
- Familiarity with common databases and metadata standards.
- Understanding of technology licensing contracts and revenue collection and distribution.
- Understanding of Bayh-Dole Act and how it relates to licensing agreements.
- Experience with biotechnology contracts and document management systems.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with high attention to organization and detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to select appropriate means of communication in a given situation.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment.
- Rigorous planning and proactive communication, comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously and balancing shifting priorities.
- Advanced skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Access).
- While subject to change based on business needs, this is an on-campus position requiring a minimum of 4 days per week working onsite from our La Jolla campus, with flexibility to work 1 day per week remotely from home.
COMPENSATION:
The expected hiring range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000/annually, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
