Senior Construction Manager

Amazon's Senior Data Center Construction Manager (Sr. CM) leads the delivery of hyperscale data center programs across the Greater Kanto region — setting the standard for scope, cost, schedule, and quality across a portfolio of concurrent new builds and capital upgrades. The Sr. CM operates with significant autonomy, making high-stakes trade-off decisions and driving outcomes that influence regional capacity delivery timelines.

Amazon designs and procures its most advanced infrastructure in-house and builds data centers purpose-built for our own servers. As a senior member of a dedicated, self-perform construction team, you will own the end-to-end critical infrastructure chain — HV substations, fiber, generators, switchgear, UPS, chillers, cooling towers, AHUs, and servers — and be accountable for the integration of complex MEP and control systems across multiple facilities simultaneously. You will hold GCs to the highest quality and safety standards while driving accelerated schedule compression at portfolio scale.

Beyond individual project delivery, the Sr. CM shapes construction strategy, establishes best practices, mentors Construction Managers, and acts as the regional technical authority in their discipline. Once construction is complete, the Sr. CM ensures seamless transition to the commissioning team and provides oversight of integrated testing through to handover.

Responsibilities
Deliver:
- Own program-level delivery across multiple concurrent data center projects at various lifecycle stages
- Drive scope, cost, schedule, and quality decisions with minimal oversight — escalating only high-impact trade-offs
- Ensure day-to-day contractor performance, safety compliance, and change management across project sites; travel for audits, constructability reviews, and commissioning support as required
- Manage complex RFI resolution and coordinate cross-disciplinary technical decisions with design engineers and internal stakeholders
- Own contracts and commercial change at portfolio level: scope compliance, variations, EOTs, claims, and progress claims — driving resolution with QS/commercial/legal teams
- Deliver clear, concise reporting on program-level metrics, risks, and decisions to senior leadership

Optimize:
- Develop and implement portfolio-wide cost-reduction and schedule-compression strategies
- Partner with procurement to manage the lifecycle from tender to contract award; raise the bar on rigor and vendor accountability in accordance with company procurement policy
- Author scopes of work, RFPs, and capital expenditure justifications
- Lead constructability reviews on electrical, mechanical, and architectural designs — establishing repeatable review frameworks for the team
- Identify and drive standardization opportunities across the regional project portfolio

Comply:
- Design and implement risk, issue, and change management frameworks to mitigate delivery risks at portfolio scale
- Own project adherence to internal governance, quality assurance, regulatory, and security standards — set the benchmark for the team
- Drive compliance with global EHS policies and high-risk activity standards; ensure consistent application across all project sites
- Maintain portfolio-level risk registers with mitigation strategies and regular executive-level reporting

Influence:
- Mentor and develop Construction Managers and provide technical guidance
- Serve as the regional point of contact for senior leaders and cross-functional teams to drive alignment and decision-making
- Partner with procurement, design, and operations teams to expand the vendor pool, improve GC accountability, and shape regional construction strategy
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to increase facility resiliency, operational performance, and delivery predictability
- Represent the construction team in cross-organizational forums; influence process improvements and standards
