Job Description

Responsible for the development and execution of architectures, policies, practices and procedures that manage the full data lifecycle needs of an enterprise. The role ensures the coherence, availability, accuracy and security of data so that the information needs of the organisation can be met. This includes data design, database architecture, metadata definition and repository creation.
The role designs, implements and evolves robust, effectively aligned architecture solutions that operate within the business ecosystem. It consults and educates stakeholders on methods for streamlining and standardising data recording to improve quality and accuracy, and takes responsibility for key elements of the organisation's data management system.

1.1 Enterprise Data Architecture

• Design and optimise enterprise-wide data architecture.

• Design, implement and evolve architecture solutions aligned to the business ecosystem.

• Define standards for data modelling, integration and governance.

• Align data models with enterprise architecture and business strategy.

1.2 Data Management and Lifecycle

• Develop and execute architectures, policies, practices and procedures for the full enterprise data lifecycle.

• Manage key aspects of the data management system and develop or operate key elements of the system.

• Ensure coherence, availability, accuracy and security of enterprise information.

• Support data design, database architecture, metadata definition and repository creation.

1.3 Analysis, Modelling and Quality

• Lead data modelling efforts across programmes or the enterprise.

• Define modelling standards and best practices.

• Perform complex statistical analysis using mining, modelling and testing techniques to enable data exploration, manipulation and analysis.

• Collate and analyse data using preset tools, methods and formats.

• Consult and educate stakeholders on methods for streamlining and standardising data recording to ensure quality and accuracy.

1.4 Collaboration and Leadership

• Collaborate with business, engineering and analytics teams.

• Mentor junior modellers and guide teams.

• Work independently while taking responsibility for delivering a key element of the organisation's data management system.

• Plan and manage resources to deliver predetermined objectives specified by more senior managers.

1.5 Scalability, Security and Compliance

• Ensure the scalability, security and compliance of data systems.

• Ensure decisions comply with relevant policies and standards.

Job Requirements

1.6 Education

• NQF Level 9 - Master's degree or Relevant Equivalent Experience required.

1.7 Work Experience

• Experience planning and managing resources to deliver predetermined objectives as specified by more senior managers: over 3 to 6 years.

• Substantial general work experience, together with comprehensive job-related experience in the area of expertise to a fully competent level: over 6 to 10 years.
