Senior Data Engineer - Databricks- Contract

A high growth technology consulting firm with a reputation for delivery excellence looking for a Contract Senior Data Engineer to join an exciting, complex client engagement.

This role requires some days on site with the client in Auckland, within a hybrid, high trust culture, embedded in an award winning consulting team delivering complex legacy modernisation and custom software projects for major New Zealand and Australian enterprise clients.

This is a hands on Contract Senior Data Engineer role. It is not a people management position. You'll need to hit the ground running, bringing deep technical expertise and the judgement to make the right data and engineering calls in a fast moving, multi project environment.

The Role
You'll work closely with data, analytics, and architecture teams to shape customer data platforms and turn strategy into robust, scalable delivery. That means designing and optimising pipelines and architectures across enterprise ecosystems, championing security and governance, and driving consistency and quality across data models.

You'll also bring a sharp eye for inefficiency, spotting where automation, accuracy improvements, or architectural changes can make a real difference, and pushing those improvements through within an agile delivery framework.

What You'll Need
10+ years of hands on data engineering experience, including:

• Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional certification
• Deep expertise with ETL tooling such as Azure Data Factory
• Extensive experience across data lake, data warehouse, and Lakehouse patterns
• Experience in complex Manufacturing and/or Utilities sectors
