Senior Data Engineer

They are a large enterprise level organisation who are seeking a experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a high-performing data team delivering large-scale data and transformation initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a range of projects, designing and building modern data solutions while contributing to the ongoing enhancement and support of enterprise data platforms.

You will play a key role in developing scalable data pipelines, supporting business-critical data integration initiatives, and helping to establish best practices across the data engineering lifecycle.

• Design, develop, and maintain robust ELT pipelines using modern cloud data platforms.
• Build and optimize data solutions using Azure Databricks, Python, and SQL.
• Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from design through to deployment and support.
• Work on major data, analytics, and business transformation projects.
• Support production environments by investigating and resolving data-related issues when required.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD practices to ensure efficient and reliable delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects, analysts, developers, and business stakeholders.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation and ensure alignment with engineering standards and best practices.

Ngā uara me ngā pūkenga e angitu ai koe | What you'll need to succeed

• Proven experience working as a Data Engineer or Data Architect with Azure Databricks.
• Experience delivering large-scale data platforms, migration, or transformation projects.
• Strong hands-on development skills in Python and/or SQL, with experience building ELT data pipelines.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Azure DevOps, and documentation tools such as Confluence.
• Knowledge of modern cloud-based data engineering practices and data architecture principles.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work across multiple initiatives.
• A proactive, collaborative approach and excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
• Commitment to delivering high-quality solutions and continuous improvement

Duration - 6-month contract (with potential extension)

Location - Can be based in Auckland/ Christchurch/ Wellington
