Senior Data Engineer
Our client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to manage the data modelling and reporting layer of a complex, multi-tenant analytics platform.
The role will focus heavily on Looker, LookML, SQL, and BigQuery, including the use of dynamic properties and Liquid variables to securely route users to the correct datasets.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain scalable Looker and LookML architecture.
- Manage multi-tenant dashboards, models, and data access.
- Use Liquid variables and user attributes to deliver dynamic content.
- Develop advanced SQL queries for Google BigQuery.
- Manage Looker users, groups, roles, permissions, and custom attributes.
- Maintain version-controlled LookML models, dashboards, and metrics.
- Improve platform security, performance, scalability, and governance.
- Support deployment and data workloads within GCP environments.
Required Experience
- At least five years of overall data engineering or analytics engineering experience.
- Two to three years of strong hands-on Looker experience.
- Experience designing or contributing to Looker architecture.
- Multi-tenant Looker experience.
- Strong SQL skills, ideally within BigQuery.
- Experience with Looker administration, dynamic properties, Liquid variables, and user attributes.
- Experience managing complex data models and access controls.
Desirable Experience
- LookML security and data governance experience.
- GCP deployment or platform experience.
- BigQuery nested fields, repeated fields, and window functions.
- Looker architecture experience within a secure, client-facing SaaS environment.
Strong Looker architecture experience may be considered even without direct GCP exposure.
