Senior Engineering Manager Cloud Storage
You will lead the team responsible for architecting, delivering, and operating high-performance storage environments. You will manage petabyte-scale infrastructure, build a cloud storage platform for AI and HPC workloads, guide architecture and design, oversee incident response, develop engineers, coordinate delivery, and partner with engineering teams, vendors, and customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a software engineering team
- Set team goals and conduct performance reviews
- Create individualized growth paths for engineers
- Drive recruiting and hiring
- Translate product requirements into engineering plans
- Manage dependencies, resourcing, and sequencing across workstreams
- Coordinate with partner teams and external vendors
- Lead architecture and design reviews
- Conduct code reviews and contribute to technical decisions
- Drive incident response for storage-related issues
- Represent Storage in cross-functional initiatives
- Engage with hardware vendors and enterprise customers
Requirements
- 4+ years of engineering management experience
- Experience leading teams of 6 or more engineers
- Background as a software engineer, tech lead, or architect
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with distributed storage systems such as Ceph, GlusterFS, or MinIO
- Experience with production block, file, and object storage systems
- Experience with performance optimization and capacity planning
- Knowledge of NFS over RDMA, NVMe-oF, S3, and RoCE/InfiniBand
- Familiarity with NVMe, RDMA, DPUs, and Linux I/O subsystems
- Programming experience in C, C++, Go, Java, or Rust
- Experience with Kubernetes or Docker
- Familiarity with Terraform or Ansible
- Linux internals knowledge
