Senior Frontend Engineer

Salary: Up to $1100

About the role

Work with a global financial organisation as a Frontend Engineer who thrives in complexity, takes ownership of deeply embedded legacy systems and can operate confidently across both legacy and modern frontend technologies.

You will be part of a modernisation program rebuilding a mission-critical platform, transforming legacy UI built with GWT/GXT into modern, scalable and user-centric applications using React and TypeScript.

The person we are looking for is someone who becomes the go-to expert when problems are considered "too hard." You are comfortable diving into large, inefficient legacy codebases, understanding complex UI behaviour and reshaping it into clean, obvious and maintainable frontend applications whilst using AI.

Key responsibilities:

• Rebuild legacy GWT/GXT UI components and workflows into modern React and TypeScript applications.
• Translate complex legacy behaviours into clean, intuitive and user-centric experiences.
• Design scalable, modular frontend architectures and establish consistent component and state management patterns.
• Integrate frontend applications with backend services through API-first and BFF patterns, working closely with backend engineers on contracts and data flows.
• Validate and refine AI-generated UI components, application logic and tests, ensuring quality, correctness and maintainability.
• Improve frontend performance, accessibility, observability, testing, CI/CD and overall application reliability.

What are we looking for?

• 6+ years of strong frontend engineering experience with strong hands-on React and TypeScript expertise.
• Experience modernising large-scale legacy frontend applications, ideally GWT/GXT or similar.
• Strong understanding of frontend architecture, component-driven design, state management and API integration patterns.
• Strong understanding of frontend performance, rendering behaviour, accessibility and testing across unit, integration and E2E.
• Familiarity with modern frontend tooling, CI/CD, cloud environments and AWS.
• Confident reviewing and correcting AI-generated code, with the ability to reason across complex enterprise systems
