About the role:
As a Senior Designer in our Slate studio, you will lead the development of thoughtful, functional, and visually compelling commercial furniture environments that align with client goals, manufacturer standards, and user experience. This is a strategic, client-facing role where you will guide projects from concept through completion, partnering closely with clients, sales, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality outcomes that meet budget and timeline expectations. You will combine creative direction with technical expertise, developing space plans and leading detailed furniture specification while producing accurate installation documentation across a variety of project types. As a senior member of the design team, you will also mentor junior designers and help uphold a high standard of design quality, specification accuracy, and collaboration across projects.
This position is open in both our Denver and Fort Collins office locations.
What you’ll do:
- Partner with clients, account executives, and internal teams to understand project goals, spatial requirements, and brand standards.
- Develop creative and efficient space plans using CET Designer (Configura), AutoCAD, and manufacturer planning tools.
- Lead detailed furniture specification, including systems, ancillary products, finishes, and materials, ensuring alignment with design intent, budgets, and manufacturer standards.
- Select and source materials, finishes, furnishings, and product solutions that support project goals and user experience.
- Prepare and maintain accurate design documentation, including drawings, specifications, renderings, and installation packages.
- Coordinate with vendors, manufacturers, architects, contractors, and internal teams to gather samples, pricing, technical information, and ensure design feasibility and compliance with codes, ADA, and ergonomic standards.
- Present design concepts and solutions to clients and stakeholders, incorporating feedback to refine project outcomes.
- Mentor junior designers by providing guidance, feedback, and professional development support.
- Stay current on products, materials, and industry trends to strengthen design solutions and studio capabilities.
