In Germany, Amgen is represented by a research site and a commercial site. Both locations are in Munich. This vacancy is for the commercial site (Amgen GmbH) on Riesstraße.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsibility for the successful implementation of the assigned study portfolio across the entire study lifecycle, managing portfolio progress, monitoring quality, risks, and milestones, and providing support for escalations and problem-solving
• Leadership and professional development of the Local Study Operations Managers (LSOM) as well as management of external service providers to ensure high-quality and timely study execution
• Coaching, mentoring, and fostering the professional and career development of the LSOMs, as well as building a high-performing team
• Promoting close collaboration between the Study Strategy Team, local study teams, and other stakeholders to effectively manage the assigned portfolio
• Promoting cross-functional collaboration between country teams for the successful implementation of the country portfolio, as well as supporting decisions on study placement while considering country competencies, capacities, and development potential
• Proactive management of risks, quality trends, and resources, as well as continuous optimization of operational processes in compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards
• Managing resource planning and workload distribution (internal employees and external resources/FSP) to optimize study execution in alignment with global priorities
• Close collaboration with the Country Head and support for cross-functional coordination and escalations

REQUIREMENTS:

• Successfully completed university degree in natural sciences, medicine, or a comparable field, ideally with a PhD
• At least 7 years of professional experience in clinical research within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry or at a CRO is desirable
• Ideally at least 2 years of leadership experience with disciplinary responsibility or proven management of complex teams, programs, or projects
• Experience in leading clinical trials within Germany and the DACH region is an advantage
• Experience in leading cross-functional teams as well as managing external service providers in clinical research (e.g., CROs, laboratories, or imaging providers) is a plus
• Sound knowledge of local regulatory requirements for global clinical trials is an advantage
• Confident and strong communication skills in German and English (written and spoken; approx. C1 level)
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, as well as a structured, solution-oriented, and quality-focused working style
