Summary
Senior Project Manager consultant leading a strategic HR technology transformation programme in Sweden. Drives cross-workstream delivery for decommissioning legacy HR systems and migrating to new enterprise platforms (e.g. SAP SuccessFactors), coordinating HRIS, payroll, data, reporting and integrations while managing risk, governance and stakeholder alignment.
Assignment duration: 6 months initially, with possibility of extension
Location: Sweden
Assignment: Project , HR Technology Transformation
About the assignment
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager consultant to lead a strategic HR technology transformation initiative in Sweden.
The project focuses on simplifying and modernising the HR technology landscape by decommissioning existing solutions, transitioning critical HR capabilities to our strategic technology landscape, and ensuring business-critical HR processes, data, integrations and reporting remain reliable throughout the transformation.
The consultant will provide overall direction, coordination and delivery leadership across multiple project streams. The role has no direct line-management responsibility and is not expected to perform specialist work within the streams. The focus is to enable effective delivery, connect dependencies, challenge plans and outputs, and drive the programme towards agreed outcomes.
The consultant needs sufficient HR technology and transformation experience to constructively challenge stream leads and subject-matter experts, identify gaps and risks, and improve delivery quality, pace and productivity.
Key responsibilities
The consultant will:
Take overall responsibility for planning, coordinating and driving the project across interconnected workstreams.
Provide clear direction, priorities and expectations while enabling stream leads to own delivery within their areas.
Maintain the integrated programe roadmap, milestones, dependencies, resource requirements and delivery plan.
Assess the health and performance of the streams and identify where decisions, intervention or additional focus are required.
Constructively challenge stream plans, assumptions, deliverables and timelines to improve quality, pace and productivity.
Ensure stream deliverables collectively support objectives and identify cross-stream gaps, dependencies and conflicting priorities.
Lead the transition and decommissioning of existing HR solutions while ensuring required capabilities move successfully to target solutions.
Coordinate activities across HRIS, payroll-related solutions, reporting, data, integrations and downstream applications.
Ensure appropriate strategies are established for migration, cutover, rollback, business continuity and system decommissioning.
Maintain focus on business-critical processes, particularly payroll and employee data continuity.
Drive collaboration across HR, HR Technology, IT, Enterprise Architecture, security, data teams, vendors and business stakeholders.
Maintain effective governance covering scope, milestones, risks, issues, decisions, dependencies, budget and resources.
Identify risks and blockers early and drive the right stakeholders towards decisions and resolution.
Provide clear, fact-based reporting to sponsors and steering committees.
Challenge technical and business proposals and ensure decisions consider both immediate project requirements and the long-term HR technology landscape.
Drive readiness for testing, deployment, business transition and adoption.
Ensure clear acceptance and exit criteria before legacy solutions are decommissioned.
Drive structured transition into BAU, including ownership, documentation and support arrangements.
Required experience and competence
We are looking for a senior consultant with:
Significant experience leading large-scale technology and business transformation programmes.
Proven experience from at least two comparable projects or programmes involving enterprise system decommissioning and/or implementation and migration to new platforms at scale.
Strong background in both project and programme management across multiple interconnected workstreams.
Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct line-management authority.
Previous hands-on experience with HR technology and HRIS platforms, providing the technical and functional understanding required to effectively lead and challenge specialists.
Good understanding of HR technology landscapes, including HRIS, payroll, time management, employee data, reporting and integrations.
Experience managing complex system migrations, integrations and enterprise dependencies.
Experience with system decommissioning, migration, cutover, business continuity and legacy-system retirement.
Sufficient technical understanding to engage with architects and specialists and constructively challenge technical recommendations and assumptions.
Strong governance, risk management, planning and stakeholder-management capabilities.
Experience working with senior leadership and steering committees in complex organisations.
Strong ability to create structure, establish accountability and drive decisions in ambiguous environments.
Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear business implications.
Preferred experience
Experience in the following areas is considered an advantage:
Large-scale HRIS transformation or consolidation
SAP SuccessFactors or comparable enterprise HR platforms
Payroll and time-management transformation
HR data and reporting
Legacy-system retirement and application-landscape simplification
Complex enterprise integrations
HR technology transformation within large international organisations
Working across local and global technology organisations
Change management and organisational readiness
Consultant profile
We are looking for someone who can quickly understand an existing programe, establish credibility with the different streams and take ownership of the overall delivery from the start.
The successful consultant leads through influence rather than hierarchy, creates transparency around progress and performance, and constructively challenges teams when plans, outputs or timelines are not sufficient.
The consultant should be technically credible without taking over the responsibilities of architects, stream leads or subject-matter experts. The ability to connect business, HR and technology perspectives and drive different stakeholders towards common outcomes is critical.
The assignment requires a senior professional who can bring structure, pace, accountability and delivery focus to a complex transformation.
