Senior Python / Network Software Engineer

18-Month Fixed-Term Contract | Sydney | Hybrid

This is an opportunity to work on software that sits at the intersection of Python development, network automation, APIs, cloud and infrastructure — ideal for someone who enjoys solving challenging engineering problems rather than working purely on traditional application development.

The Role

You'll work within an Operations Support Systems (OSS) environment, developing and supporting software that helps operate and automate network and infrastructure services.

You'll be involved in:

• Developing and maintaining applications using Python

• Building and integrating APIs and services

• Automating network and infrastructure processes

• Working across cloud and infrastructure environments

• Supporting CI/CD and modern DevOps practices

• Working with network management and operational systems

• Collaborating closely with software, network and infrastructure engineers

• Contributing to the design and improvement of automation solutions

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with 10+ years' software engineering experience who brings a strong combination of software development and networking expertise.

You'll ideally have:

• Strong commercial Python development experience

• Hands-on network automation experience

• Solid understanding of networking and infrastructure

• Experience working with APIs and integrations

• Experience with AWS

• Strong understanding of CI/CD and DevOps

• Experience working with integration platforms such as Boomi would be advantageous

• A track record of developing production-quality software

We're particularly interested in engineers who have worked across the boundary between software engineering and network/infrastructure engineering.
