Role Overview

Join a Real-Time Industrial Solutions team supporting a business-critical SCADA platform used 24/7 to help maintain the balance and stability of the European electricity grid.

The team develops and maintains solutions for real-time control, monitoring and integration of power generation and flexible energy assets across several European countries. The platform supports key grid-balancing mechanisms such as FCR, aFRR and mFRR and facilitates real-time communication with Transmission System Operators (TSOs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a mission-critical SCADA application used for real-time power system operations.

  • Work across backend and frontend development, using SCIL as well as HTML5, CSS and JavaScript/TypeScript.

  • Design scalable, robust and maintainable software architectures.

  • Apply software engineering best practices such as SOLID, DRY, KISS and YAGNI.

  • Contribute to an Agile/SAFe environment and collaborate with developers, analysts, architects, dispatchers and business stakeholders.

  • Participate in on-call support after onboarding to help ensure high system availability.

  • Continuously improve development practices, reliability and the overall technical environment.

Key Requirements

  • Master's degree in IT, software engineering, electrical engineering or a related technical discipline.

  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience.

  • Strong software engineering mindset combined with an understanding of industrial environments.

  • Good understanding of electricity generation, transmission and grid balancing concepts.

  • Structured, proactive and solution-oriented approach.

  • Comfortable working in a 24/7, high-responsibility environment where reliability is critical.

  • Able to react quickly to incidents while also looking for sustainable long-term solutions.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Curious, autonomous and willing to learn new technologies and domain-specific concepts.

  • Awareness of cybersecurity requirements in ICS/OT environments, including NIS2.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Industrial control systems (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity.

  • Experience with version control and CI/CD, preferably with GitHub.

  • Knowledge of software architecture and design patterns.

Other Details

The initial assignment is approximately 220 working days / 1,760 hours, with flexibility to work in a hybrid model and potential for long-term collaboration based on performance. Regular on-site presence in Belgium is required, with occasional travel to industrial sites or other European locations.
