Senior Software Engineer - Customer Device & UI Engineering
About the role
The Senior Software Engineer plays a key role in the design, development, and delivery of software solutions within the Navico Group PD&E division. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building reliable, high-quality products while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. You will contribute to software architecture, implementation, code quality, and technical problem-solving across a range of products. The role requires strong technical capability, practical engineering judgement, and a collaborative mindset. You will also support and mentor other engineers, helping to drive engineering best practices across the team.
Key responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software systems and applications.
Contribute to technical design discussions and code reviews.
Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver robust solutions.
Support software quality through testing, automation, debugging, and best engineering practices.
Troubleshoot complex software and system-level issues.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture.
Contribute to architecture and technical decisions where appropriate.
Collaborate on software, firmware, and hardware integration as product needs evolve.
About you
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Strong experience in software design, development, and debugging.
Strong proficiency in C and C++.
Experience with Make and CMake.
Experience with Qt/QML or similar frameworks.
Experience developing applications for Linux, iOS, Android, and/or Windows.
Experience working with CAN bus.
Experience with IoT technologies such as ThingsBoard, MQTT, Mender, or similar.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Experience with Zephyr or similar RTOS would be a bonus.
Experienced with debugging hardware.
Experienced with using tools such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
Ability to read and understand electronic schematics.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with firmware development or low-level embedded systems programming.
Experience with hardware–software integration and debugging in embedded environments.
Experience with embedded Linux systems.
Familiarity with bootloaders, firmware update mechanisms, and embedded security.
Experience developing Linux kernel drivers.
Experience bringing up new hardware from scratch.
Experience with networking technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, TCP/IP, and Ethernet.
Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar.
Familiarity with Docker or similar container technologies.
Ability to read and understand electronic schematics.
Experience working in Agile development environments.
