Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack / Platform)

Why you might want to work with us...

Auxo builds the software that keeps the automotive industry moving. From workshops and dealerships to fleets and parts retailers, thousands of businesses across New Zealand and Australia rely on our tools to run their day, sort their invoicing, and spend more time on the work that pays. We're backed by the Motor Trade Association (MTA), we've been in the industry for over 30 years, and we're now scaling our cloud product across the Tasman. That's where you come in.

About the role

Auxo Software is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to deliver Auxo Workshop features end to end, across backend and frontend, to a high standard. This is a full-time position based in Penrose, Auckland, offering the opportunity to drive significant pieces of our product from specification through to production. In this hands-on senior role you will deliver complete, verified increments across the stack, bring architectural and security judgement to the components you work on, and co-own the infrastructure, delivery pipeline and observability that keep the platform stable as it grows.

Auxo Workshop is our principal growth engine. It is the platform we are scaling into Australia, and the platform a large base of long-standing customers is migrating onto, so the work carries real weight and real scale.

That scale is why infrastructure is not someone else's job here. We need someone who has run a web platform in production and made it grow: performance, capacity, cost, deployment, monitoring and recovery. If that is work you actively want rather than tolerate, there is a lot of it in this role.

The remit is deliberately broad, and broader than the equivalent role in a large organisation. The value of the position is judgement and breadth rather than specialising into one layer of the stack. You will report to the Head of Engineering and work in a lean engineering team inside an established SaaS business that is scaling across two markets.

AI is central to how this role works

AI fluency is a core expectation of this role. Every change that reaches our customers is designed, reviewed, tested and owned by a named engineer. What AI changes is the speed of implementation, not the standard: we expect you to use these tools to move faster, then apply the design, security and verification judgement they cannot. Your skill with these tools is assessed as part of this role.

What you'll be doing

  • Delivering features end to end across backend (.NET / C#) and frontend (Next.js / React), so each piece of work reaches production as a complete, verified increment

  • Co-owning the platform Auxo Workshop runs on: Azure hosting, CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions, deployments, monitoring and alerting

  • Making the platform scale as we grow, across performance, capacity, cost and reliability under increasing customer load

  • Building for customers in both New Zealand and Australia, including the migration of long-standing customers onto Auxo Workshop

  • Working alongside the customer success team and spending some time with customers from time to time so what you build reflects how workshops actually operate

  • Directing AI coding tools to produce implementation, then reviewing, correcting and refactoring what they generate to the same bar as any other code

  • Verifying your work through automated and manual testing so changes are safe to release often

  • Contributing architectural and security decisions for the components you work on within our engineering and security standards and through peer design and code review

  • Responding to production issues, leading fast recovery, and feeding what you learn back in so the same failure does not recur

  • Upholding the team's technical standards for design, code quality, testing and security, and holding the line on them in review

  • Sharing AI-assisted delivery techniques so the whole team's fluency keeps rising

  • Communicating timelines, progress and risk proactively, flagging problems early rather than at the deadline

  • Keeping Jira and Confluence current as the shared record of work, decisions and knowledge

What we're looking for

  • Demonstrable experience delivering production software end to end, across both backend and frontend, in a commercial environment

  • Demonstrable experience scaling a web platform in production, covering performance, capacity, reliability and cost, not feature delivery alone

  • Strong practical experience running applications on Microsoft Azure, and designing relational databases that hold up as data and load grow

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD, infrastructure and observability tooling, and a genuine appetite for owning that layer rather than handing it off

  • Strong working knowledge of C# and .NET, and of a modern JavaScript / TypeScript frontend framework such as React (we use Next.js)

  • Evidence of directing and critically reviewing AI-generated code as part of day-to-day delivery

  • A track record of owning specifications and acceptance criteria, and of verification through automated and manual testing

  • Evidence of architectural and security judgement, and the ability to work independently on broad problems with minimal direction

  • Experience integrating third-party systems

  • Experience working with customers directly to identify problems

  • Experience with Auth0 or comparable identity and access management is desirable
