Overview
The RTP Team in Mastercard Payment Services (MPS) is looking for a Java developer to participate in the NICS Core team working with development and maintenance of our Norwegian Batch Clearing Service, NICS Core. We are now looking for a new colleague to join our development team and are open to candidates with both a few years of experience and more experienced developers who want to influence the direction of our solutions.
As NICS Core is classified as Critical National Infrastructure under the Norwegian Security Act, candidates for this position must be able to achieve Extended Access Clearing as defined by Nasjonal Sikkerhetsmyndghet, NSM.
About the role
You will be part of an interdisciplinary product team that works closely with product owners and business to develop and maintain robust, scalable and secure solutions.
We are looking for developers of different experience levels – from you with a few years of experience to more experienced developers who want to take a central role in the development of our services.
Our teams work agile (Scrum/ Kanban) and have a high degree of ownership of both solutions and deliveries.
In this position, you will:
• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based backend solutions
• Further develop our payment clearing and settlement services with a focus on quality, performance and scalability
• Help solve technical challenges – either by building experience or using your existing skills
• Collaborate closely with products, architecture, infrastructure and other teams
• Contribute to continuous improvement of our solutions, processes and technical platform
• Explore and adopt modern development tools, including AI-backed tools for increased productivity and quality
• Help identify how AI and automation can improve our services and the way we work
What we're looking for
Professional competence
• Have experience with Java development and want to further develop yourself professionally
• Have experience with backend development (Spring, REST APIs, preferably Hibernate)
• Has worked with agile development processes (Scrum/Kanban)
• Have experience with modern development tools (Bitbucket, Git, CI/CD, Maven, IntelliJ or equivalent)
• Has an interest in working with integrations and preferably complex system landscapes
AI / Modern Development
• Have an interest in – and preferably some experience with – the use of AI in development work (e.g. code assistants, prompt engineering, automation or similar)
• Are curious about how AI can be used to improve development processes and products

• You are independent and take ownership of what you build
• You are able to understand and work with critical, complex systems
• You are solution-oriented and see opportunities for improvement
