Senior Solutions Engineer
We are ERock!
ERock is a vertically integrated distributed energy company redefining how critical infrastructure secures reliable power. We design, deploy, operate, and maintain resilient, modular power systems built around our low-emission, quick-response natural gas generation and embedded software technology. Our solutions provide bridge, backup, and dispatchable power for data centers, utilities, and large commercial and industrial customers – accelerating time-to-power, providing highly reliable resiliency, and delivering flexible capacity to support customers and the grid. Our solutions transform distributed generation from traditional backup power into a high-performance, grid-supporting energy resource.
Role Overview:
The Senior Solutions Engineer is a customer-facing technical leader responsible for translating complex customer power requirements into practical, executable ERock solutions. Sitting at the intersection of engineering, business development, operations, and the customer, Solutions Engineers lead technical discussions, develop system architectures and operating philosophies, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and clearly communicate how proposed solutions will perform.
We are looking for engineers who want to be at the whiteboard with the customer. The ideal candidate has strong electrical power-system fundamentals but is energized by applying that knowledge to real-world problems - not spending most of the day performing detailed calculations or producing drawings. Successful Solutions Engineers become trusted technical resources who can confidently and clearly discuss generation, electrical distribution, microgrids, operating modes, controls, reliability, utility interaction, and system performance.
What We're Really Looking For:
We're seeking engineers who thrive at the intersection of technology, customer engagement, and problem solving.
The ideal candidate is someone who naturally steps into technical discussions, can simplify complex electrical and power system concepts, and builds confidence with customers through practical solutions and sound engineering judgment.
Success in this role requires:
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Confidence leading technical discussions with customers, utilities, EPC partners, executives, and internal teams.
- A systems-thinking mindset that balances technical performance, reliability, schedule, constructability, and commercial objectives.
- Ownership of technical decisions and solution strategy.
- The ability to evaluate challenges quickly, develop practical recommendations, and build customer trust.
This role is ideal for engineers who want to grow as technical leaders, trusted advisors, and customer-facing solution experts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary technical interface to customers, leading technical meetings, whiteboarding sessions, site visits, and presentations.
- Translate customer requirements and constraints into practical power generation solutions.
- Lead development of system architecture, generation configuration, electrical topology, operating modes, redundancy philosophy, and controls strategy.
- Explain how proposed systems operate during normal conditions, outages, transitions, equipment failures, grid-parallel operation, and island operation.
- Own technical scope and solution definition for proposals, RFP/RFQ responses, and other business-development activities.
- Develop conceptual single-lines, equipment sizing, system configurations, and operating narratives necessary to communicate the solution.
- Collaborate with Engineering, EPC, Operations, Controls, R&D, and Product teams to develop technically sound and executable solutions.
- Develop and maintain subject-matter expertise in ERock technology and power systems.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to ERock's technical standards and engineering capabilities.
