Social Media Manager
About Fasset
Fasset is a banking and investment platform built around a simple idea: more people should have access to the financial system, regardless of where they live. We operate across emerging markets, with a particular focus on the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Fasset was founded by Mohammad Raafi Hossain and Daniel Ahmed, has raised more than $80 million, and holds regulatory approvals across markets including the UAE, Indonesia, Malaysia, the EU, Türkiye and Pakistan.
About the Role
Financial companies are usually bad at social media. The content is polished, safe and completely forgettable. The same stock footage. The same corporate language. The same person explaining finance into a camera like they are presenting a quarterly update.
We want to build something people actually choose to follow. There are hundreds of millions of people across Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, the Gulf and East Africa spending hours every week on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and X. They are already talking about money, work, ambition, side hustles, investing and what a better life looks like.
Fasset should be part of those conversations. That is this job.
You will help build the content engine behind Fasset's social channels, with short-form video at the centre of it. You will develop formats, write scripts, shoot content, appear on camera when it makes sense and work with editors and creators to increase how much good work we can put out. This is not a role where you hand briefs to an agency and wait for content to come back. We need someone who likes making things. You will be part of our Audience and Community team alongside our existing social media manager and social media analyst. We are also building out community and creator functions around the team. Together, the group owns our social channels, communities, creator network, Web3 ecosystem and earned media.
We are also a regulated financial company. There are things we can say and things we cannot. We already maintain an approved claims library so the team can move quickly without sending every caption through legal. The challenge is making great work within those constraints.
What You'll Do
Build the content engine
- Create repeatable formats, series and recurring ideas that people recognise and come back for.
- We are not looking for a content calendar made up of unrelated posts that starts from zero every Monday. We want formats that get better over time.
Run our social channels
- Help own Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, X and LinkedIn day to day.
- That includes the content calendar, publishing, platform strategy and performance. Some weeks will be built around campaigns. Others will be driven by what is happening on the internet that day.
Make content yourself
- Write the hook. Shoot the video. Edit the first version. Get someone on camera. Be on camera yourself when the idea calls for it.
- We want the creative instinct sitting inside the team, not outsourced through a brief.
Build a production system around you
- You will work with a shooter-editor and a bench of freelance editors and creators.
- Part of the job is figuring out what you should personally make and what you should hand off so we can increase output without lowering the quality.
Move quickly
- When something culturally relevant happens on Tuesday, posting about it on Friday usually does not matter.
- We want to be able to turn around timely work on the same day when the opportunity is there.
Make the comments worth reading
- Community management should not feel like customer support with emojis.
- Replies, comments and quote posts are part of the content. Sometimes the best post starts with something someone said underneath the previous one.
Make work for the market, not for the translation
- Our audience speaks Urdu, Bangla, Arabic, Bahasa and English.
- The goal is not to make one English video and translate it five times.
- We want work that feels like it came from the place it is being published in. That means working with local teams, creators and cultural references to make content specifically for each market.
Turn what Fasset is doing into stories
- Events, product launches, Buildathons, partnerships, customer stories, office life and the people building the company should all create content.
- You will be expected to spot those stories before someone sends you a brief for them.
Work closely with brand and performance
- Organic social should not live in its own universe.
- You will work with our brand and performance teams so campaigns, paid media and organic content reinforce each other while still feeling native to the platform they appear on.
Know what is working
- You should know your numbers.
- Views matter, but so do watch time, retention, shares, saves and follower growth.
- We also care about whether social sends qualified people into the product. We are not going to force brand content into a channel CAC target, but this is still a growth role. We want someone curious about what happens after the view.
What We're Looking For
We care much more about what you have made than how many years you have been doing it.
- You have grown something
- You have work to show us: A reel or portfolio is required.
- You are comfortable on camera
- You understand the platforms
- You can write
- You can edit - You should be comfortable enough in CapCut, Premiere or a similar tool to get an idea from your head to something publishable without waiting for an editor.
- You can manage other creatives - You have worked with freelancers, editors, creators or production partners before and know how to give feedback that actually makes the work better.
- You have good judgement - Ideally, you have already made strong work in finance, fintech, healthcare or another category where you cannot simply say whatever you want.
- You use data without letting it ruin the work - You are comfortable inside platform analytics and know how to use the numbers to improve what you make.
Language
Fluent English is required. Urdu, Arabic, Bangla, Bahasa Melayu or other languages spoken across our markets are a significant advantage. The best social work in these markets will come from understanding the culture, not translating an English caption.
Nice to Have
- Experience in fintech, crypto, banking or another regulated industry
- Experience building an audience in an emerging market
- Experience with Discord, Telegram, ambassador programmes or online communities
- An existing personal audience or creator track record
- Experience building a character-led brand where people follow the account because they enjoy the content, not simply because they use the product
