Autodesk is seeking a Software Engineer to help build, operate, and advance the distributed compute platform that supports internal development teams across the company. This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys tackling complex technical problems and growing foundational platform services that are expected to be resilient, scalable, secure, and maintainable. In this role, you will contribute across the full software lifecycle, including design, development, testing, operations, and continuous improvement.
You will work as part of a collaborative team while taking ownership of defined problems, driving solutions with limited supervision, and contributing to the long-term evolution of the platform. You will partner closely with internal teams to understand their needs, enhance the services they rely on, and contribute to improving our engineering practices.
This is a hybrid role. The position also includes participation in an on-call rotation to support our production systems
Responsibilities
Design and deliver well-defined features and improvements to reliable distributed services used across Autodesk.
Write clean, testable, maintainable code and participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
Troubleshoot production issues and drive improvements to the reliability, scalability, and operability of our platform services.
Help internal development teams succeed on the platform by answering technical questions, resolving usage issues, and providing sample code and reusable patterns.
Participate in on-call rotations to support production systems
Minimum Qualifications
2+ years of hands-on software development experience with strong software engineering fundamentals, including testing, debugging, code quality, and design principles.
Experience building production backend software in Go, Java, Python, or a similar language.
Experience building and operating software on cloud infrastructure and working with distributed systems.
Experience owning technical work from implementation through to production support.
Experience diagnosing and resolving production issues using sound technical judgment and pragmatic decision-making.
Ability to evaluate technical solutions and implementation trade-offs, considering their broader impact, and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building production software in Go.
Experience building and operating services on AWS using technologies such as ECS, EKS, Lambda, or Step Functions.
Experience with containers, container orchestration, and observability tooling, including logging, tracing, and metrics.
Good understanding of networking and security fundamentals.
Experience contributing to internal platforms, developer tooling, or shared services.
Experience working in Agile environments.
