Software Engineer Intern
Your Role
We’re excited to be offering 4 summer internships for aspiring Software Engineers to join us in our modern, spacious office in Dunedin’s warehouse precinct. You’ll be joining either our Education Development team working on Lt (our online learning platform) OR our Research Development team working on LabChart (our data acquisition and analysis software).
Our development work uses modern front-end technologies, but don’t worry if you’re not familiar with these yet. You will be given all the training you need, and paired with a mentor who will show you the ropes. By the end of your internship, you will have contributed to our software products, and your work will be shipped to ADInstruments’ customers. An internship with us will get your foot in the door of the tech industry.

Skills and Experience
This internship is open to students who are currently studying, or have just completed, a tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field. We are an Agile development team, so you should feel comfortable working and contributing within a group context, sharing ideas, solving problems and working towards a common goal.
We’re excited about you because you’ll bring:
- You will currently be studying, or have completed study <12 months ago, a tertiary qualification in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or related field
- Experience with some or all of Javascript, HTML, CSS
- Some knowledge of, and a desire to learn, the following skills and tools:
- Working in an Agile software development team
- Writing code that is tested through automation
- Javascript frameworks such as React, MobX, Jest
- Designing and creating a solution based on a customer problem
- Ability to work well in a group, share ideas and problem solve
- A considerate, pragmatic and organised approach to your work
