Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Virtualization Engineer with 4+ years of hands-on experience in VMware infrastructure administration and virtualization technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting enterprise VMware environments. In addition, the candidate should possess foundational knowledge of Kubernetes and automation scripting using PowerShell or Python to support infrastructure automation and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi, vCenter Server, and related VMware components.

  • Manage and monitor virtual infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, scalability, and security.

  • Perform VMware lifecycle management, including upgrades, patching, migrations, and capacity planning.

  • Configure and manage VMware HA, DRS, vMotion, Storage vMotion, Distributed Switches, and VMware clusters.

  • Troubleshoot complex virtualization, storage, networking, and performance-related issues.

  • Work closely with storage, networking, backup, and security teams to ensure seamless infrastructure operations.

  • Manage VM provisioning, templates, snapshots, cloning, and resource optimization.

  • Support disaster recovery planning, backup validation, and infrastructure resilience.

  • Automate routine administrative tasks using PowerShell or Python scripts.

  • Collaborate with DevOps and application teams to support containerized workloads with basic Kubernetes administration.

  • Maintain infrastructure documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks.

  • Participate in on-call support and infrastructure maintenance activities as required.

Required Skills

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience as a VMware Administrator or Virtualization Engineer.

  • Strong expertise in:

  • VMware vSphere

  • ESXi

  • vCenter Server

  • vMotion

  • Storage vMotion

  • High Availability (HA)

  • Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS)

  • VMware Distributed Switch (VDS)

  • ESXi and vCenter security hardening

  • VM Templates and Cloning

  • Resource Management and Capacity Planning

  • Good understanding of virtualization best practices and enterprise infrastructure management.

  • Experience in VMware patching, upgrades, migrations, and troubleshooting.

  • Basic knowledge of Kubernetes architecture, pods, deployments, services, namespaces, and cluster operations.

  • Basic scripting knowledge using PowerShell or Python for automation.

  • Good understanding of Windows Server and Linux administration.

  • Familiarity with storage technologies (vSAN, FC, NvME over TCP), networking concepts (VLANs, DNS, TCP/IP), and backup solutions.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to VMware vSAN and VMware Cloud Foundation.

  • Experience with VMware Aria (vRealize) Suite or VCF operations.

  • Understanding of container platforms and DevOps concepts.

  • Experience in any Opensource Virtualization technologies

  • Relevant VMware certifications (VCP-DCV or equivalent) are preferred.

  • Kubernetes certifications (CKA/CKAD) are an added advantage.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Relevant VMware and virtualization certifications are preferred.
