SolidWorks Designer
The SolidWorks Designer supports the design, development, and production of JE Technology Solutions manufactured products in a collaborative team environment. This mid-level role is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate SolidWorks 3D models, assemblies, detailed drawings, bills of material, and related technical documentation. The SolidWorks Designer works closely with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, vendors, and project teams to support practical, buildable design solutions, incorporate design improvements, and deliver accurate design packages within project deadlines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create, revise, and maintain accurate SolidWorks 3D part models, assemblies, and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings in support of product design, fabrication, and assembly requirements.
- Develop drawings and design documentation for fabricated parts, weldments, sheet metal components, machined components, mechanical assemblies, and installation layouts.
- Apply sound mechanical design principles, including fit, form, function, material selection, manufacturability, and basic tolerance considerations, to support production-ready designs.
- Prepare and maintain bills of material, drawing revisions, part numbers, design records, and related documentation within SolidWorks PDM, ERP, or other company document control systems.
- Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, dimensional consistency, proper notes, material callouts, weld symbols, and alignment with company drafting standards.
- Support design changes, product improvements, engineering change requests, and manufacturing feedback by updating models, drawings, bills of material, and related design documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, manufacturing personnel, fabricators, vendors, and purchasing to resolve design, fabrication, purchasing, and assembly questions.
- Interpret customer specifications, sketches, markups, redlines, legacy drawings, and verbal design direction to produce clear, accurate, and buildable design deliverables.
- Maintain organized CAD files and follow established procedures for revision control, drawing release, and design documentation.
- Create and update assembly drawings, installation drawings, cut lists, flat patterns, fabrication details, and other production support documents as required.
- Identify potential design, fabrication, or assembly issues and communicate recommended improvements to engineering or management.
- Assist with project planning by estimating drawing effort, communicating task status, and supporting project schedules and deadlines.
- Provide regular progress updates on assigned design tasks and promptly communicate schedule, technical, or documentation concerns.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as directed by the department manager.
Work Location: Onsite, Apopka, FL. Reliable commute to work is required.
Job Type: Full-time; Exempt
Work Schedule: Minimum 40 hours weekly, with willingness to work additional hours as needed to meet project deadlines. Standard workweek is Monday through Friday.
