Solution Consultant
Solutions Consultant — Open Data and Open Banking
Remote-first | New Zealand | NZ$130,000 + ESOP
Help shape the future of open data
Open data is changing how people and businesses access, understand and use their information. Australia’s Consumer Data Right has established the foundations of an open-data economy, while New Zealand is now entering a defining period as its own open banking and Customer and Product Data ecosystem takes shape.
Wych operates across both markets—bringing experience from Australia’s established Consumer Data Right ecosystem to the emerging opportunity in New Zealand. Our outlook extends beyond Australasia: we’re engaging with organisations internationally and exploring new markets where our technology, regulatory experience and approach to open data can create value.
We’re accredited in New Zealand and well positioned to help organisations turn changing regulation, consented data and new infrastructure into valuable products and customer experiences. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute not only to our growth across Australia and New Zealand, but also to how Wych approaches future international opportunities.
We’re looking for a Solutions Consultant who can bring technology, customer needs and commercial opportunities together.
This is more than a traditional pre-sales role. You’ll help organisations understand what is possible, shape solutions to real business problems and guide customers from an initial idea through to implementation and measurable value.
You’ll join Wych at a particularly exciting point in our journey. You’ll have the freedom to influence how we sell, how we engage customers and how our solutions evolve.
About the role
As Wych’s customer-facing technical expert, you’ll work with prospective and existing customers throughout their journey—from the first discovery conversation to solution design, onboarding and implementation.
You’ll uncover what customers are trying to achieve, translate their business and technical requirements into practical solutions, and bring those solutions to life through tailored demonstrations, workshops and sandbox experiences.
You won’t be handing customers a standard presentation and moving on. You’ll work directly with decision-makers, technical teams and Wych’s product, architecture and engineering specialists to solve complex problems and help shape what comes next.
What you’ll do
Lead thoughtful discovery conversations that uncover customer objectives, challenges and technical requirements
Translate complex business needs into clear, practical solution approaches
Design and deliver compelling demonstrations, technical workshops, sandbox experiences and solution presentations
Help customers imagine—and then realise—new possibilities created by open banking and open data
Provide technical expertise throughout proposals, evaluations, RFIs, RFPs and security or compliance assessments
Guide customers through onboarding and implementation, keeping their intended business outcomes at the centre
Work closely with Wych’s product, architecture and engineering teams to represent customer needs and influence platform development
Support the technical elements of compliance assessments and CDR Representative oversight
Build trusted, long-term customer relationships and become a strategic partner in their success
Use AI, automation and workflow tools to improve how Wych approaches sales, onboarding and customer engagement
Help create reusable demonstrations, frameworks and resources that strengthen our commercial capability as we grow
About you
You’re naturally curious, commercially aware and comfortable moving between a customer’s business problem and the technology needed to solve it.
You can communicate confidently with executives, product leaders and engineers. You know how to ask good questions, make complex ideas understandable and build trust without overselling. You enjoy taking ownership and are energised by the opportunity to improve things—not simply inherit an established playbook.
You’ll ideally bring:
Experience in solution consulting, pre-sales engineering, technical account management or another customer-facing SaaS role
A strong understanding of SaaS platforms, APIs, integrations and cloud-based environments
Experience leading demonstrations, workshops and complex, multi-stakeholder customer conversations
The ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Commercial judgement and a genuinely consultative, customer-first approach
The confidence to work independently, take initiative and turn ambiguity into action
Experience contributing to proposals, evaluations, RFIs, RFPs or technical compliance processes
Experience with open data, open banking, Australia’s Consumer Data Right or New Zealand’s Customer and Product Data regulatory regime would be highly valuable—but curiosity, adaptability and the ability to learn quickly matter just as much.
Practical experience using AI or automation to improve commercial or customer-facing work would also be a real advantage.
Why Wych?
At Wych, your contribution won’t disappear inside layers of process.
You’ll work directly with customers, senior leaders and the people building the platform. Your ideas will be heard, your decisions will matter and you’ll see the solutions you help shape progress from an early conversation into something used in the real world.
You’ll also have the opportunity to:
Work at the forefront of open data across Australia and New Zealand
Contribute to Wych’s exploration of emerging international opportunities
Help organisations create new products and customer experiences from evolving technology, regulation and data access
Influence Wych’s customer strategy, commercial processes and product direction
Take genuine ownership without unnecessary hierarchy
Work alongside an experienced team tackling technically and commercially meaningful problems
Share in the value you help create through Wych’s Employee Share Option Plan
Wych is remote-first, with flexibility to work across customer engagements and time zones. The role may involve occasional travel within New Zealand and Australia.
What we offer
Competitive Annual Salary
Participation in Wych’s Employee Share Option Plan
A remote-first working environment
Direct access to customers, senior leadership and technical decision-makers
Meaningful ownership of how the role and our customer-engagement capability develop
The chance to help shape an industry while it is still being created
If you’re excited by the intersection of technology, customers and emerging markets—and want to help turn the promise of open data into something tangible—we’d love to hear from you.
